Hey guys, the time has come to put my car for sale. I have a 2003 AP1 Sebring Silver/Red S2000 with a little over 24,000 miles. The car has been well mainted by myself, and I have changed the oil every 3,000 miles with a new PCX filter and 5.5 fresh quarts of Mobil1. Overall the car is in very good condition, it has always been washed once a week and waxed around once a month. I would also clean the interior every other week so everything has been well taken care of. On the outside of the car the condition is very good overall. Also included with the car is an OEM front lip, JDM headlights/sidemarkers, and an ACT clutch/Comptech light weight flywheel. The OEM S-02's on the car have less then 5,000 miles on them with lots of treadware left. Overall, the car is in very good condition. I have posted up some pictures, if you would like any others please let me know and I will get them for you. If you have any questions please feel free to ask. The price is $20,000 FIRM. It is priced fairly to sell.

You can get an AP2 conversion for a couple hundred bucks. Dont let that stop you, if you really want it.

I miss my S The 335 is a nice ride, but not near as much fun as the S is.

Thanks ... the AP2 conversion is nice, but I always prefered the JDM AP1 headlights with an Amuse R1 front like I use to have over an AP2.

I'm sure that I will ... I wish I could transplant the s2k gearbox into the 335. The transmission on the s2k is the best of any manual i've ever driven.

Now this is a smart man.

The car is being traded in on Monday or Tuesday so this is your last chance to pick it up if you are serious.

You should throw this car up on Autotrader ASAP! Ive sold a few cars on there, always works out pretty nicely.

The price is right, the weather is right, and the weekend is right.

Nice Ride! I miss specialque's s2000, that thing was a blast to drive.

Thanks for the advice Rich. I actually put it up on autotrader a week ago, but all I have been getting is a bunch of people calling me and lowballing me lower then what I can trade it in for. I thought that the price was fair.

Yeah price seems reasonable. The S2000 is a rather specialty car though, could be the reason for low-ballers. Most people think of it as just another Honda.

Shame to just trade it in. Is your trade-in value agreed upon already? You dont want the dealer to try to screw you last minute. Just something to consider, dont think what you think is trade in is what the dealer will think it is. They are grimey and know you will be antsy with your new car sitting there. Thus they will low-ball.

Trade in also gives you the discount on the sales tax, so that is somehting to consider too.

Good luck!

Rich, you are exactly right, I couldn't agree any more. You must be speaking from experience here because this is exactly what happened to me last week. I was kind of foolish in just assuming that my car would be worth black book value on the trade-in, and a week before my 335 was scheduled to come in I brought it in for an appraisal. The new car manager (a real tool ) looks at the car for one minute and finds the only flaw on the car (two dimples on my trunk) and says that he will give me 16,500 for my car, which is 1,000 LESS then black book value with 60,000 miles!!!!! My car has 24k on it and is in excellent condition, I wanted to start laughing in his face. He said that they couldn't sell the car with the two marks on the trunk (they are the size of a pencil eraser) and it would be at least 1k to fix. I laughed it off and just left.

A few days later, which was this past Friday, my car comes in and my CA calls me up and tells me to come down to take delivery of my new car. I explained to him the situation and that I would be unable to pick up the car since I needed more time to sell my car due to the fact that they wanted to give me 3k less then what the black book value is for my car. He laughed at what the new car manager appraised my car for and told me to come down and have it appraised by the used car manager. I brought my car down to the dealer after work and after 20 minutes of looking over every inch of the car and driving it around the lot, he tells me that they can give me 17,500 for the car. I told him "ok, I guess i'll see you in a week or so after I sell it on my own." He was shocked that I didn't want to take home my new car that minute after he let me sit in it and knowing that I waited over 3 months for it to come in. I just played it off like the new car didn't even phase me, and after another hour of negotiating with the car manager I got them to offer me 18,500 for the trade-in, and after tax savings I will be getting $19k for it, which isn't bad considering I was selling it on my own for $20k. I think the fact that my car is a manual helped me out also because they didn't want it sitting there on their lot, as well as the fact that this is the time when everyone buys convertibles and they probably know that they can flip my car for 22k in a week.

So, in the end they caused me a bunch of unneccessary aggravation from trying to screw me, but I just held firm and let them know very clearly that if they weren't fair on my trade-in that they would be sitting with my car there. It all worked out in the end, I will be picking up the car either tomorrow or Tuesday. I don't think that the bank is open tomorrow so I probably won't be able to pick it up because of the holiday.
