Going to Singapore and I need a bank!

Hey guys,

I will be leaving for Singapore for 4 months in January (or 8 months) and I need to find a way to access my money or get my money there.

I am not used with this, so what do you guys recommended?

I have two options (I think)

1) I open an HSBC account and access it while I am in Singapore.
2) I get there with a big fat certified world wide check and open a bank account there...?

Anyone ever had this before? Oh and btw, its a student exchange, so I won't be getting revenues from there for the first few months, I will only be living off my present money (in Canada).

I have some friends who live in Singawhore, I can try and get the name of a good bank from them for you
