have a read here http://www.bavariantechnic.com/
I too had done all the reading on the piggybacks and decided with procede. It came down to being able to access local support in Melbourne |

Like armak mentioned, the BT tool is an excellent albeit expensive option. The BMS CANtool is cheaper and works fine but doesn't have a laptop interface.
