They choose a base model Shelby GT500. I'm sure the base model 335 is under 50k......

And it doesn't matter how good a car's power/weight is if the drivetrain is junk. It takes more than an engine to make a car go fast.

base Shelby has a lot of standard equipment that 335 does not but i think they should've take a lightly optioned 335 sport line

you saying DCT or 6 MT on 335 is junk? i'll have to disagree with you there

I blame the N54 to N55 switch.

How is the drive train junk? My 6AT was handling 500 rwhp, nearly + 240 rwhp over stock, with no slips. That's pretty good if you ask me. I do agree not having an optional OEM LSD is crap, but that was easily fixed thanks to Quaife.

My car's value was 57k when I bought it, so I'm not too worried it didn't make the list... I would think the majority here would feel the same.

Unless I read it wrong, he wasn't referring to our cars, he was referring to others.

this thread is further proof that 335i drivers are egocentric, obnoxious and arrogant....

and these were stock cars, not tuned.

(None of those cars compare the the handaling and esepcially comfort of our BMW's)

You should see the M3 drivers... There was an article about sports cars under $60,101 and the M3 wasn't included. They were so upset

Why the arbitrary number?

In the article the "fastness" of the car is estimated through its weight-to-power ratio (which they incorrectly refer to as "power-to-weight ratio"). The less - the better. The 10th car in the article (Subaru Impreza WRX STI) has that ratio at 11.1, while 2011 335i sedan has it at around 11.9. No wonder 335i is not in the list.

And what did you expect in any case? BMW cars are too overweight to seriously qualify as performance vehicles. The very basic suspension type makes things even worse in the handling department. You didn't take those "Ultimate Driving Machine" TV ads seriously, did you? As it has been stated many times before, 3-series are nice cars and all, but from technical point of view they are nothing more than glorified grocery getters with selection of motors.

Also, as mentioned, they more than likely had to pay for a spot. Yahoo probably proposed all companies... "This will get blah blah hits, bidding starts a 1 million dollars." So, they probably paid for the advertising.
