Golf Tee Mod side effect?

I did the golf tee mod a little while ago and after a 1k or so miles my 02 sensors went bad. I was just wondering if the golf tee mod had anything to do with it? Have any of you with the mod experience this?

As far as I know it shouldnt of had anything to do with that. The flapper is at the very end of the exhaust past the muffler, and far from the o2 sensor. The only thing the golf t mod should of done is kept open the metal flapper allowing you too use both mufflers at low rpms instead of just the one.

Do you know anything (at all) about how an engine works? You should not be allowed to touch a screwdriver. period. Pay your mechanic to do the mods for you.
Jesus...

Harsh? Yes.
Why?
Because this is the reason we have small print...

Seemed like a valid question to me. I don't recall the User Agreement for this website saying we have to be mechanics. Obviously he somewhat reads the site if he did the mod in the first place. And the O2 sensor going out within probably a few weeks of driving makes it more than just a coincidence. Granted, its not related, but if you are not a mechanic or know too much about cars you wouldn't know that.

OP, the O2 sensor going was most likely a coincidence. The consensus seems to be the golf tee mod has no ill effects to the car other than throwing a shadow code that 99.9% of BMW service techs seem not to care about.

I ran this mod myself for a little while, though I disconnected it from inside the boot, but reconnected it back after a while as I actually liked the exhaust note better the way BMW intended it to be on the e92.

FWIW, I do think it sounds better disconnected on 4dr models as the exhaust note is not as aggressive tuned as it is on the coupe.

It was a coincidence. Only the only bad thing about the golf tee mod is your exhaust will get a little louder.

I pulled the connector to do this mod and a week later, my HPFP failed.

True Story.

There's the only ACTUAL correlation. All HPFP's that failed only did so because of the golf tee mod.

...now, let's see how many people chime in with anecdotal stories about their pump failed and they didn't do the golf tee mod. For those people, it's called "sarcasm".

Hah. Love this thread. Poor guy

Final answer: No

But if you pulled the plug in the back for the mod it will throw a dumb code. So replug, clear code, and then go to dealer.

I have been to the dealer many times with the plug unplugged. They just clear my codes and leave the connector disconnected.

I've run this mod for 22,000 miles with no issues (first thing I did when I got the car home) so I would say it is not related.

Why would this happen though? What correlation does the vacuum hose being unplugged which leaves the flapper open in the muffler have to do with the HPFP?

Primary side effect of the golf tee mod is the car wants to play 18 instead of going home after work.

bro i used the golf tee mod for more than 1000 kilo meter
sorry for the kilo meter but in our country we use kilo meter not mile
any way , i didn't have any problem but i got bored from the sound when i talk in the phone
thats why i reconnect the cable

if there is any aftermarket exhaust that has a golf tee mod
i will be the first one who buy it
