More data logging fun

Weather has been great here in AZ at night, so been having a lot of fun playing with the car.

Log 1: 3rd gear pull, pretty happy with the run, but a little curious if boost control set point should ever equal boost? Seems like there was a lot of time there for them to come together, but they didn't ..

Log 2: Same run, just showing ignition advance and temps. Still can't seem to get rid of those damn ignition drops. I've brought the boost down to ~14.5psi instead of 15.5, but they are still there.

Log 3: Since I normally do a 3rd gear pull, I decided to see what it looks like for a first gear & second gear run. Timing looks a little better, don't see the drop to 0 anymore. And wow, a 20.9psi boost spike! Is that even safe?

Running a slightly modified Stg1 aggressive map. Mainly just lowered the boost points a bit for a stock car.

I'm just gonna put this out here cause you know others will complain about this later... you need to scale AFR's properly... 10-20... not 40 lol

It looks like boost is still too high for your conditions (temps + octane).

Yeah? You think that is still whats causing the timing drops? I suppose I could try and target 13.5psi ...

IMO, if youre going to drop boost that much and tweek the boost curves, and also have issues with the default ignition advance of the agressive maps, then those maps are not for you. Either get shiv on the phone, or run the 7-XX maps with a little more boost in the midrange.

Yeah you're probably right.. I just liked the richer AFR's on the aggressive maps.

I'll try out the 7-29 maps to see if they have the same ignition drops as these.

You "can" modify AFR targets with the software. The initial lean indication cannot be dealt with the way I like, without my car hiccuping as the unit demands more fuel almost instantly. For pulls, the agressive AFR maps work fine, but for DD my car didnt like it until 3k where it settled down. If you get different results, post em.

Just did my first pull with 7-29 maps... Felt really good, timing was really good actually. Started the pull at 4.5deg and no drops, kept increasing until the end of the gear and it was at 9deg advance. Boost was about 12.2psi initially and tapered off to 11.2psi by the end.

The only problem... Right after the pull, I think it went into limp mode. I'm not sure what limp mode is like, but no SES light came on, but the iDrive said engine malfunction, running at reduced power. The DME had codes 12544 and 10887.

EDIT: Bummer, the 10877 == 2A87, which is Outlet-VANOS Variable Cam Control Test ...

I'm going to hope this was just a fluke. Never saw this with aggressive maps, I run a map which doesn't even push my car as hard and this coincidentally happens on the first run? I'll give it some more time before jumping to change any solenoids.

If the code comes back then clean your vanos before buying a new one, its been said that it works occasionally.

Interesting that the two maps have two completely different effects on your car. The 7-29 maps had good tweekability so I'd stick with those pending your vanos code...
