I washed the car today, and for the first time as the weather was so good today, I noticed that it is covered in swirl marks that I want gone.

I want the car detailed big time now and wouldn't mind some recommendations on detailers in Suffolk, Essex or East London.

I'm gonna pull my finger out of my arse and learn how to properly detail one day too as I've never had a car detailed in my life and I've owned some decent motors.

My advice is not to do it yourself. I did and caught the bug - its costing me a fortune.

I'd have a go at claying etc, but when it comes to electric thingmebobs on my car I'm afraid I'll screw it up. I'd end up with a silver mirror finished e90!

Go to over the rainbow in acton. They are g techniq authorised and do a superb superb job for good price

They do anything from light machine polish and correct to a full wet dry sand.

Go for a DA and it's hard to really f### it up. I've not been able to put a dent in to my swirls so masking with AF tripple till I can unleash the new megs MF pad system.

Wax free car wash
Meguiars Clay + detailing spray
Autoglym Super Resin Polish
Dodo Juice Wax

Wash, clay with lube, polish, polish, wax, wax.

Job done.

I do the full job maybe two or three times a year, the SRP gets rid of nearly all the swirls and a quick wash in between brings the car up like new.

SRP won't be removing the swirls, just filling them - although it does it very well.....

I've just bought a full Megs MF setup, which I shall be using with my PC (do people still use these btw?) on my rock-hard BMW paint!
My process is going to be along these lines:-
Door shuts, under bonnet area cleaned using APC
Pre-wash using Auto Rae Chem Cherry Snowfoam.
Wash with Chemical Guys Citrus Wash & Gloss
Clay using Bilt Hamber Regular
Machine polish using Porter Cable DA & Megs MF cutting pads and Megs MF cutting compound.
Machine polish using above but with Megs MF Finishing pads and Megs MF finishing Wax.
And finally a couple of layers of Collinite 476S to finish!

I thought PCs were an American thing?? Does the same job though.

I've gone for cutting pads and compounds but will then refine with some menz and a finishing pad. Start off with snow/apc mix, strong shampoo, tardis, iron x, bilt hamber clay.... Polish.....Then maybe a glaze, sealant and raceglaze 55 or naviwax ultimate. If I haven't bought an AF wax by then.....

Have to work myself up for that job!!

Yeah the PC is an american tool which runs off 110V so you need a transformer to use it.
I have been into detailing for about 6 years now, and bought it way back then when detailing was pretty new to these shores, and there wasn't many other tools to choose from.
Haven't really done much for the last few years, so I'm just getting back into it, and researching all the latest products and kit!
One thing never changes though, it's bloody expensive!!

I had mine sealed with the gtecniq c1, it's doing a great job still 6 months in, definitely worth looking into to help preserve all that detailing work

All well getting them detailed but ideally you need to make sure your wash method is good so you dont introduce more swirls to the paintwork.
