How to diagnose injector failure

My 335 started throwing codes about 3 weeks ago. Misfire on all cylinders but one.

I don't know what was previously done, but with 55k miles, I went ahead and replaced coils and plugs. I have attempted to clear codes with the JB4, but the CE light is still there. The only other thing I can think of is injectors, but didn't know if there was a way to diagnose this easily or not.

I have the Maxcare warranty, but I want to make sure there isn't something missing before I have to remove the jb4, and take the car in.

Thanks

at this point it would be wise to replaced all 6 injectors. do you have any other codes other than misfire on 5 cylinders?

May not be same as you but my car threw multiple misfires and i did everything people recomended and still misfire. Finally gave up and took to dealer. They diagnosed it and replaced TMAP and all is well.

Maybe try replacing that as it is cheaper than 6 new injectors.

Thanks for the feedback. Still looking to see if there is a way to easily diagnose this. I have an aftermarket warranty, so looks like it will just be going in for service. I just thought this topic might help others out as well.

I'm at work, so I will have to check again when I get home. But it is still showing misfires on 5 cylinders.

I drove around for a bit after changing the plugs/coils, cleared the codes with the JB4, drove around some more. Service Engine light never went off.

It's fine cruising around, but if I go WOT it's choppy/chugging. Hard to explain, but almost a very quick pulsating.

Sounds to me like injectors. I also replaced plugs and coils soon after I tuned the car. About a month later I got the exact same thing happening with my car. I installed 6 new injectors with 13 index and Idle is much improved, however I am not able to go WOT as they are not coded yet.

Good luck man

Its a few injectors going bad, do you have a rougher idle on a cold start? That's a common sign, or when you changed your plugs were any wet?

When I first start the RPM's oscillate, but after about 30 seconds or so it clears up.

None of the plugs were wet, and all looked pretty similar.

Sounds like injectors, I had the jumping RPMs at start as well. Replacing injectors fixed it.

I have a bad injector and do not have symptoms like these (and every car is different). Maybe multiple injectors could cause this, but I was also thinking about the HPFP. Have you had yours replaced at any point or issues with it before?

I had just one injector fail and the car couldn't be driven, it idled like a two stroke and gas was dumping out of the tail pipe. You could have injectors on the way out, you will know when they actually fail. Maxcare only fixed things AFTER they broke on my Audi. You should be fine though.

For some reason, I can't get the JB4 to connect to my laptop. So, I took a video of the JB4 readout.

Help is appreciated!

When my injector went I had missifire in cyl 6 ... I replaced injctor 5 with 6 and the missfire moved to 5 ..I only replaced 3 not all 6.

You may want to remove the jb4 any way no one wanted to touch my car when I took it in they all said they could not read the codes etc

Well something weird happened.... the SEL wasn't on this morning when I started the car. Made some WOT pulls, everything felt pretty smooth. Decided to take some logs, so if anyone can take a look at them, make sure everything looks OK..
