I love the smooth look of a debadged car. Porsche even has a "delete badge" option when you order your car. I hated how many letters 328xi had on the back so they came off quickly.

Fact is some debadge for the clean look, while some debadge to truly hide their lower model. However, I dunno whats worse; those who debadge because they're ashamed of their lower models, or those who refuse to debadge their higher end models simply to make themselves think they're better than those who chose the lower models. Both are pathetic

I didn't mean truly hide in the sense that you can't make out the actual car, I meant it in their true feelings behind debadging. I agree, most people who are into cars can tell the difference

Yeah I took off the 335 emblem on mine, but anyone who knows can see a FMIC or dual exhaust.

If I were to do it, it would be for a clearner look. I am very proud of my car even if it is not a 335.

It is true a lot of people do it to try and hide that they have a lower model.
I do it because it looks really clean. I have debadged the last 4 cars I have owned, and probably will debadge all the rest too. Unless I get an ///M6 in which case I would only leave the ///M

I want to leave it on. I don't even have my license plate on yet - I think my dealer screwed up somewhere...). Instead of having other 3'ers race me, I feel like I can race more since people think my car is stock. Debadging makes it look like you did SOMETHING to your car - not a normal everyday driver.
"Oh stock 335i..." then bam JB2H. Surprise! Sleeper surprise. |

The whole "so people know what model you have" thing is flawed because:
1. The people who care enough about cars to know what a "335i" badge means would be able to tell regardless of whether or not the badge is there. 2. The people who don't know enough to tell without a badge would react the same way to a 325, 328, 330 or 335 regardless of whether or not the badge is there I agree that debadging gives people impressions that the car is modded though. I know when I see a BMW with no badge my mind immediately starts wondering what mods it has. |

No matter the reason, you should do it soon or not at all. It gets more difficult to remove the adhesive as time goes by.
I like mine clean so I did it a soon as I had the time. |

Sorry, but I just don't see it as being such a big deal. The clean vs not Clean thing is too much hype. It's so barely noticeable and given all the things you can do to mod a car this is so insignificant. But I guess since it's a no-cost mod it's going to be common.
Yet when this subject comes up on the board it becomes such a hot topic. Makes me beleive there is more to it then just going for the "clean look". |

those who debadge for the clean look is fine by me...
if u debage a G35 for example.. no problem... I mean.. it's a G35... there is one spin-off of it... but the problem with non-335i models or the C/E classes is that when u debadge them, you are trying to hide something I find.. btw, someone mentioned being able to tell between the different 3s... I can only tell the 335 apart from the rest... how do u differentiate between a 328 and a 330???

My 335 is de-badged just like my e46, and my e36 prior to that. I do it for the clean look, and it also makes it a little easier to dry without tearing my microfiber towels.
Most people cant tell it's even a 3-series let alone the difference between a 335 and 328; I've had two people in the last month ask me if it was a 6 series. I'd probably be flattered if I cared what total strangers thought of me.
