VK Moterwerks Intercooler Question / Clarification
Ive read several threads on this FMIC, and am looking for clarification from those who have installed it or VK-
Its my understanding that this FMIC requires no cutting on the car, bolts right up, and does NOT require any cutting of, and uses the stock clamps, hoses, couplers, etc etc? So you could go back to stock and replace your OEM FMIC in short order, and the dealer would never be the wiser? (as the clamps and couplers, etc are the same) If so this can change my whole desiere to have/not have an upgraded FMIC... |

That is correct, our fmic uses the stock OEM couplers and mounting points. Here is a video of the install: . Im sure others can attest to the fitment and performance of this IC. |

Sucks I cant do catlesss downs, but your FMIC using all the stock clamps and such with no cutting, puts a FMIC on my table.... Like I said , eager to hear GB pricing |

I have one. Yes....I did have to swap it back to the stock intercooler for a significant warranty issue which had me very anxious about detection, so I am sure the dealer looked around for signs of modifications. Once I had the bellypan off, the intercooler swap took literally 15 minutes. Remove two clips...unscrew two mounting screws....reverse procedure to install. On the 135i there is no need to remove the bumper because it does not interfere at all with the intercooler removal. It goes straight up into the stock location from beneath the car. Oh...and another thing - it performs! All aftermarket intercoolers outperform the stock one, but the VK is a breeze to install/uninstall. The only complaint I have is that the VK is sooooo much heavier than the stock one! |

How does the VK FMIC compare to the Helix FMIC in terms of ease of install, weight, and actual performance?

Sounds like too good a deal to pass up, especially since I'm not in a hurry. I'll go add myself to the groupbuy.
Vince can we get these anodized? Charge? My 135 is BSM so I'm looking for a black anodized FMIC! |

I would think any coating would possibly reduce the effectiveness of the heat transfer ability of the aluminum?
