Also, is the C63 equipped to deal with E85? The fuel lines, etc.?

Getting the right tire and launch down is going to be key.

i would have grabbed a c63 last year but i lived in chicago at the time and that's no place for rare wheel drive. besides i like awd too.

lately ive been thinking about the e63 now that they removed that dumb hood hood ornament and it's 4matic.

either way i think you'll have a good amount of fun. awesome car imo.

Congrats on the car.
I have to admit, C63 is a very refined car, that has some gut wrenching power.

275s in the rear (in lieu of the 255s) will definitely help.

I wonder if it's feasible/practical to use the Race Start feature at the strip?

Thanks bud! Yeah I am looking at picking up an '14 E63 4MATIC here sometime in February (to replace the 750i xDrive). Transitioning fully to the Dark Side.

Thanks for the kind words! In the end it was between an E90 M3, the C63 sedan, and the CTS-V sedan. The IS-F was ruled out rather quickly. For a Lexus, the interior was just not up to par.

That much power going to the rear wheel just sounds insane. I wonder if you can even get traction to launch with that much HP/torque.

I can imagine you spanking some GTR on freeway runs.

I can break the tires loose at will.

That would be nice! Those GTRs are insanely fast as well.

Ever since getting the C63, the number of people that rev at me and/or try to race me at a stoplight has skyrocketed.

Some of the instigators have been baffling. One that comes to mind is a Dodge Dart SXT.

This week I'll be adding an ECU Tune (OE Tuning). Crank horsepower will go from 451 to 538 and torque (in lb-ft) will go from 443 to 500.

Speed limiter (set at 155 from the factory) is removed so the car can reach its natural top speed of 200 miles per hour (track only ).

It was between OE Tuning and Eurocharged. Both are outstanding but the OE Tuning tune seems to be a bit stronger.

After the tune I'm going to add this carbon fiber diffuser (from Vorsteiner):
That diffuser won't fit your car. It's made for Pre-facelift C63's 08-11. Facelifted C63's have a different bumper, so unless you swap your bumper it won't work.

When I read the first part of your response (above) I literally started laughing out loud. Well done.

And regarding the tires, that's a hell of a good point. I'm closing in on 1,000 miles on my tires already look like they have 5,000 miles on them instead.

They (i.e., the folks at Vorsteiner) make diffusers for pre-facelift and post-facelift C63s.

Here is the one I'm after:

http://www.vorsteiner.com/mercedes/c...rear-diffuser/

And here is both the Vorsteiner diffuser and front lip on a facelifted C63:

Yeah I know, but the original diffuser you posted has a different design than the facelifted one.

Correct. I was just grabbing a quick pic. The design on the new one isn't radically different.

Yeah you can use it, but I have found my fastest times have been without using Race Start. But it does get you a consistent 60ft time I guess. But manually launching will give you better times if you get it right.

Thanks for the tip! How many miles do you have on your C63?

I'm almost finished with the break-in period. Then: baseline dyno; install OE Tuning software; post-tune dyno; drag strip; road course.

Curious, what's the mpg like? I heard one the other day and it was heaven to my ears

Sound is definitely great and has only gotten better as the exhaust has broken in.

Fuel economy is another story. I've gone from averaging 24-25 mpg in my F30 335i to averaging about 12-14 mpg in the C63. I couldn't be happier though haha.

Have you been driving all city?
I've been getting ~17mpg mixed city and Highway in mine.

I was considering getting a C63 for my next car, but that gas mileage is brutal. It is 13/19 and average 15mpg combined. Do you guys daily drive the C63?

Yeah all city thus far. I like to avoid racking up highway mileage during the break-in period. City driving helps me to ensure that I vary the engine speed. So hopefully, the 12-14 figure will improve.

My C63 is my daily driver at the moment. My commute is only about 10 minutes now so I can stretch out a tank.

With the way it drives and sounds, you tend to forget about the fuel economy aspect rather quickly.

Im on about 28000kms. You should take the car out to the drags before tune so you can see what kind if improvement in times you get. My car (stock) ran 12.11 but other stock guys can sometimes hit sub 12s.
