Best launching technique for dragstrip?

I've got an AT N54 E92 coupe with the basics and JB4. I will be taking the car to the dragstrip for the first time shortly. What are your recommendations to obtain the best ET's? I've read about launching at 2 nd gear, do you recommend it? Also, what is the best setting for the DTC? Any input will be appreciated.

1. Manually put the car in M2
2. Turn DTC to fully off position
3. Hold brake and hold rev's at 2000
4. Release brake
5. Push the gas all the way to the point right before the kick down switch and shift at 6,200 RPMS
6. Enjoy the ride

Thanks for the feedback spoiledxjoker. Does everybody agree with him? Also, another noob question, what happens when you push the DTC button and the orange indicator light turns on. Does it free up the car a bit? I know that if you leave it pushed for a couple of seconds the DTC gets turned off.

Thanks to all!

Yes, if you are tuned, that is the way to go. It will probably help doing something to prevent hitting the kickdown, it is hard not to do on a launch.

JB4 and DCI only with 40% e85 mix. If I use the method mentioned above (DS in M2, brakeboost then launch), I get zero traction and pretty much get no where. I can feather the throttle to prevent wheelspin, but I can't get anything below 2.4 60' time :/

I have successfully launched many rwd cars. I may not be the absolute best at launching, but I can confidently say that I'm not bad either haha. I'm assuming it is my summer tires not getting traction in colder weather :/

Launching as was mentioned above I've been able to do 2.0x 60' but others on here with more experience/practice can get down at least another tenth. If I had a 1.8x 60' I'd be low 12s.

you could also experiment with the technique in the thread below, post #14:

Because M1 all yours tires do is spin so the gear is worthless

If your not having traction problems of the line then feel free to start in M1 but if you are I would try M2 should help you out

Not trying to thread jack, but what about launching techniques for 6M/T? I just didn't see the point in creating the same thread again.
