The first couple days after the update, the car felt great. But now I can tell that there is a little lag on the low end. Nothing really significant. Mid and upper rpm band feels the same though. My cp-e exhaust sounds better after the update though

OK guys,
I just got back from going to the dealer and running other errands. I did not get the update! I also asked the tech if he could tell me what program that I did have and are you ready for this? I have 25.2. It's amazing because I'm trying to figure out all of the stuff they did even from 25.2 to 28.2 because my car runs like a fricken champ. Anyways, my service went great. No questions about any mods and no updates. The service guy did say that there might be a problem if anything happens to my brakes in the future. I asked him if he was serious. I said that I would have to be an idiot to take my car into the dealer and expect them to fix my brakes under warranty (since I've upgraded my OEM brakes to the 6 piston fromt/4 piston back Rotoras), and he said, "You would be surprised." I tolde him that I've had the BBKs on for over a year and that I just replaced the brakes all around and had the rotors resurfaced. If I went into the dealer requesting them to do what I've done and expect everything for free, I'd have to be sniffing something. That just amazes me. IMO, I think that's part of the big "warranty" problem. It's the people that go into a dealer and expect the dealer to fix something under warranty where it was blatently obvious that an aftermarket product was the cause of the failure. These people contribute so much to the dealer giving people such a hard time about modifying their cars. My 2 cents.

Great success!! Glad it went well. That eases my mind a bit about when I take my car in for the 15k. I dont want any of this turbo lag nonsense caused by 29.2.

It really is not too hard. Next time you are at your dealer just ask them.

It's unlikely that they'd be able to a software upgrade in the time it takes to do an oil change. They didn't keep the car overnight by chance did they?

This is true. I hear it takes a while so if you wait for your car then the chances are that they won't do it.

My WG rattle seems to get worse by the day and my last visit to the dealer noted the "noise from turbo area" and "update software to fix". So, I'm feelin' like a hostage - avoid the crap software and live w/ WG "lawnmower rattle" or go to the dealer and lose my low-end torque...

I'm about to take my car in for a faulty brake lamp malfunction. I was afraid they might upgrade (down grade) me to 29.2. Did you leave your intake in there if you had one?

If I get the new sw, I almost certainly need a tune to "deal" with it...or at least that's what I'll tell the gf.

I cant belive what I'm reading...what you are saying is "let BMW fuck your eyeballs out with the new software. I'll just pay 700 bucks for a JB3 and void my warranty and have to fix the problem myself" Unless you wanted the JB3 from the getgo, why even comment on the lag you have now when you were going to mod anyway. I'm not trying to be disrespectful but man, dont let BMW fist you and make you like it...m2c

Obviously, it's BMW's obligation to provide customers with software that allows the engine to perform as advertised. For those of us (me, at least) considering a tune to overcome v29.2+ lag problems, it's only a pragmatic answer to wring the performance and characteristics out of the engine that got us to fall in love with the car in the first place. It's UNFORTUNATELY not realistic that BMW will quickly provide us with the software that retains performance AND warranty - at least for the foreseeable future. Hopefully, recent developments w/ the issue being publicized on Autoblog, etc, will result in some positive developments.
