Mine seems to peter out on long drives (2-3 hours). If I turn it off and then back on it starts to cool well again.

This is my biggest complaint here. Super cold going fast. Mediocre going slow.... If this is true, why do they make it disengage? Fuel economy?

My 335 A/C also sucks. I took it to the dealer and got the old "could not duplicate customer concerns". I told them it doesn't get cold when you leave it in the sun (85F +) and of course they tested it in the morning when it was 67F and since there is no leak they wont do anything else. I'll have to try and fix it myself before next Summer. BTW...my 135 A/C worked great, blasted cold air regardless of the situation.

My wife have taken her 2011 328xi to the AC for the weak AC, dealer found no problem. Its not a Japanese vs German thing either, my Audi use to get very cold, its a BMW thing.

I don't what's wrong with your A/C units but the one in my '07 will give you frostbite in about 5 mins on MAX. Of course, given that I live in Florida, I have mine maintained annually so maybe that's why mine performs so well.

The only thing Ive found to work is:
1. set the front and rear vents to cold air
2. move the temperature control all the way down to 60F.

This seems to override the temperature control and will blast cold cold air.

Non vented seats really dont help the cause. My next car will have to have vented seats.

This! I had the same experience with the dealer, multiple times. One of those times they recharged the AC, and of course it did nothing. I think there's also some stepper motor/air flap issues going on because it starts blowing out of the dash and whistling randomly.

But yeah, my AC sucks too.

Sacramento, ca- my ac in the 335 is weak. I have an e46 sedan that my wife drives and the ac there is MUCH better than mine.

I have tried that many times, still takes forever to cool down on very hot days. Putting the recir button in internal actually helped a bit.

Ah yeah, recirc is always a must when ntrying to cool down. I half open the sun roof just so the hot air exits the car too. That helps.

Did they change some controls on the 2012? My E91 has a MAX button to push. When you push it the temperatures are turn to 60* on both side and the fan blows super strong! Then depress it again and it returns to your normal setting. I bet you guys already knew this, right?

The Max button is too noisy and it really doesnt cool down the car all that much faster. The AC seems to work better on my 5 series, but its still not as good as my Audi A6 and Lexus GS350 I had in the past.

Agree about the AC in my new 328i, but I tinted the Windshield with Air Blue, so even living in a steaming hot Floirda this summer, the car was usually comfortable.

I thought I was the only... figured it needed Freon or something, but I see it's just the fault of the car. Oh well, thank god it's getting colder

My335is has Oyster (almost white) interior and I have to have it blasting on Max A/C and even after a 10 mile commute it's not as cold as I would like it.

Is this a German vs. Japanese car thing or should I bring the can into the dealer? It's been the same since I bought it new last year.
It's not a German thing my wife's Gl450 has amazing AC . My bosses Aston Martin he complains about his AC as well but his wife's S63 has a very good AC

I don't recall having a problem with neither my "d" nor my M35,but then I never experienced serious heat in either vehicle. However,I just drove to Denver last June in my (German) Bluetec experiencing 105 degrees on a couple of days with no trouble at all.Go figure.
