when they are Cold or Warmed up.

I have always set them with cold tyres but according to this board, a few people set them with warm tyres.

Manufacturers recommendations are always cold. Set by NHTSA.

When the tires gets warm, the air inside heats up and you won't get an accurate reading.

The max pressure on the sidewall is obviously the max cold pressure, but not often is it the manufacturers recommended air pressure. Generally, it is ok to go higher than the manufacturers recommended (up to max recd) , but not lower. Best to just stay the same.

I just follow what it says on the door jamb. I set them when cold. I figured that the manufacturer must allow for expansion when warm when they set the cold figures.
