Remapped 335d v C63 AMG

Yes the d lost, (sorry to spoil the ending), but it gave the AMG a run for its money.

I believe that's called; C63 doesn't know how to drive or launch. That car does 12.4@114-115 stock in the 1/4, a tuned 335d did 12.9@106. I respect the 335d but this is a fluke... let's be serious here for a second.

What's a fluke? The d lost... Now being serious for a moment; we are talking about a drag race between two novice drivers. The d ran a 13sec 1/4 and the AMG ran a 12.8. The time for the amg quoted above was likely achieved by a professional driver; that's a .4 second difference. Insideline achieved 12.5 using their professional driver, a .3 sec difference. I'd say the driver of the AMG did okay. As the adage goes, different day, different climate, different driver, same car, same track, different results - or something like that.

That D there was remapped not stock, have you ever seen a tuned / modded C63?, try a fair stock to stock comparo because a modded C63 can run mid 11's to high 10's. The C63 has 451Hp / 443 Lb-ft of torque, that is almost 200 hp more than the D almost identical torque; try this again from a roll to see a more accurate result. The reality of this race is that the C63 driver doesn't know how to drive because this wouldn't even be close.

I know all about what a modded C63 can do. We're not talking about a modded C63, rather the video is about a tuned a diesel against a high performance gaser sedan. A stock d v a stock C63 is apples and oranges. Yes the d is modded with a remap to even the playing field a bit, so what???? Is your whole reason for internet existance to rain on people's threads and start some kind of pissing match?

Like I said, the AMG driver did just fine for a novice as did the d driver. Put two professional drivers in each car and sure the AMG might pick up 2 or 3/10ths, but the d might too, so lets not get all melodramatic. Any novice that "knows how to drive" isn't going to do any better then Motor Trend's or Inside Line's professional drivers.

Nobody is trying to piss on anyone's parade but instead trying to instill a certain sense of reality into people...

I know the D guys try to make themselves feel a little bit better by showing comparos like this but the reality is not that. Go to dragtimes.com and look up the fastest 335d on there and then look up the absolute slowest C63 and maybe you will learn something. hahah I happen to know about drag racing, power curves and facts and I know that when a fully modded and tuned 335i with meth can barely keep up with a C63 in the real world, good luck with your D. Find a C63 out there, race him and report back your results, I am curious myself... Actually I know.

This is just like me trying to race a stock Z06 with a fully modded 335i, yeah I may beat him if he has a very bad day but the reality is that If I try to complete with him I have absolutely no chance.

We d owners really appreciate you injecting your sense of reality in this thread, it really means a lot. You really brought us d owner back down to earth. You sure "know" a lot huh.

This video isn't about making anyone feel better you egomaniac, it's simply a video of a race between two cars and one so happens to be a tuned d that performed quite well against a super sedan. Races are won and lost at the light.

Let's talk reality,,, most 335d owners including myself could have purchased a C63, M3 or CTS-V to name a few, but for our own individual reasons selected the d. I mention these cars because it came down to these 3 cars for me, until I drove the d; actually I had it narrowed down to a C63 the car I drove for a 3rd time just before I drove the d. Although it sure is nice to have a fast car, having the fastest car isn't what makes our world go around sparky.

BTW, there isn't anything wrong with one feeling good about their car and if reading a compro or watching a video compro reafirms ones purchase decision so be it. Now grow up and go find another thread to troll.

I think the point of the video was to show that a modded 335d can do well against an out-matched rival. While not the fastest, a modded 335d can provide ample and fulfilling exhilaration even though its a diesel.

Thanks for posting the video. Its fun to see a 335d compete, win or lose.

Right. Some people just like to argue for arguements sake and when the d is brought into the conversation it's like a moth to a flame for some debbie-downers on this board. You will enjoy your d!

Nice! Good job man. The c63 was a bit slow to launch but still impressive. Who cares what a modded c63 can do, haters gonna hate.

Cool to see a remapped 335d hang with a stock c63!

You know... after watching it again... maybe the d just got a better jump because of its torque? That is what it is good at after-all. Lower end power. Then a 335i or whatever would take over in the higher RPMs. But most likely both a good start and a bad start on the c63.

oh crap.... here it comes...

Hi Guys,

I was the owner of the 335d. It ran 13.0 all day long. The AMG did do a 1.9 60ft, which is bloody awesome really considering it was completely standard. I think it may go a tenth or so quicker than he did that day.

I am no novice either, I really do know how to launch the 335d very well. That did help me get ahead at the start, his LAUNCH was pretty good to with a 1.9 though..... He is a friend of mine. He has had two C63's. On the road he says its a far better car than the E92 M3's he has owned.

The 335d with a map is pretty quick guys, don't discount it. Check my other video of the 335d keeping up with a 400HP 335i.

I started the run in front of him and he did pull past, but it was quite cool hanging with the likes of a car that quick.

M3's are a little easier to stay with in a re-mapped 335d.

why'd you sell? In the time that you had it, did you have any problems with your dpf since your car was mapped?
