If this is another we will make a bigger IC without any R&D data to support the benefits I am a little less excited about the prospect. |

$650 USD? Hmmm. I wonder how much it would cost for shipping?

Yep PR. I'd want to know that too before biting on it as well as what Chris brought up.
Are the pics you posted just the 335d IC or do the pics also include the 330d IC too? |

Well, this was the helpful and detailed response I received from Wagner to my inquiry regarding test data...
we did not even put a prototype on a car yet, so how can we have any test data?? Mit freundlichen Grüßen/ best Regards Carsten Wagner So it would seem the unit has yet to be test-fitted or tested in the field. |

IC
Looks more like a Heat Exchanger than an Intercooler. I Agree with Chris, lets see some raw data. I want the facts and I want to see who it will benefit the most. Better for drag racing or road racing? Lets see two 335d's go head to head in some tests and some Dyno results. One stock and one with the new IC. $650 is a lot of cash if you can't prove the performance gains.

This looks like Wagner's product for the 335i. Looks like HP Autowerks has started selling the gas product: http://www.e90post.com/forums/showth...ghlight=wagner
Here's a review from a member with logs (gas product): http://www.e90post.com/forums/showth...ghlight=wagner Some of you have no idea how difficult it has been to get to this point. I've had 3 separate i/c companies that were willing to make a bespoke i/c for the d, but we couldn't even find a d owner willing to go to the company to even do the test fitting! In the case of Wagner, this all started with me bugging Nick at Wagner USA behind the scenes about the possibility of producing an i/c for the d crowd. Nick checked with the parent company in Germany, and they indicated an interest in the project, but they would need a car for a test fitting. Matt (335dwagon) and I had become acquainted in one of the previous failed attempts to get an i/c made, and I knew he lived in Germany. I contacted him, and of course he jumped on the opportunity! Nick of Wagner was actually heading to Germany at that time, so everything fell in place to get the test fitting done. It was quite exciting to get it done after the previous failed attempts. Matt didn't know it at the time, but he had committed himself to a 10 HOUR ROUND TRIP to get from his home to Wagner's home base to allow the test fitting to occur. He did it with no fanfare and no bitching, and got the job done. He deserves HUGE credit for the fact that we are on the brink of getting a bespoke i/c. I wrote all that to say that we need to slow down and wait for Wagner to go through their business process. As exciting as this is, I see no upside in rushing them or pushing them for info. It will come in good time. In the meantime, we have the anecdotal evidence of the quality of their product from tests on the gas version, and inferred quality from the integrity of the vendors that sell it. I chose to chase Wagner for good reasons. I hope this works out, because we'll have a damn good product for our d's, something which we sure as hell don't have today. P.S. As a bonus, if you read through the review thread, you'll see my very first post to Wagner as I started the pursuit of our product! LOL Last edited by DieselDiner; 09-26-2012 at 03:47 PM.. Thanks for that post and link DD.
Very encouraging stuff. Like I said, my main concern would be to see what the shipping costs are from Germany. |

Joseph I hear what you're saying, I guess in retrospect I jumped the gun a bit. I assumed from the Puerto Rican's post that they were moving to production, in which case R&D was complete. Apparently that is not the case.... In a response to my inquiry Wagner stated they will provide all necessary data to back-up their product,,, which is all anyone can ask for. Hopefully they can get their hands on another d to install and test.

I would expect Matt to make a return trip to Wagner to be their 335d test subject (I don't know for a fact, but it makes sense), but I don't know any details on the timing. He doesn't hit the board frequently, so it's a bit hit and miss to find out all the details.

Is there any way to contact Matt other than through a PM in here? It's possible that he might be too busy to set up a date with Wagner.

Hey guys you forget that Matt is a DOCTOR!! and his time is precious, I want to Thank DieselDiner whom I have acquainted myself with and appreciate his effort, but we need to be patient . Besides Cx Racing , WAGNER is the only other company to come bat for us!!! So damn it wait, I waited as well as DD for 2 months for this to come, the mere fact that Mr. Wagner sent me these photos to me taken from his Iphone (Piece of crap phn , LOL. He should get a SAMSUNG Galaxy III) And if you read the email sent to me , he stated that he would send better pics, Also I sent him this link so he can read about this!!. So lets wait, the IC looks as OEM as possible. I spoke to TurboEddie and his concern was that the IC would be to exposed to water, I told that I beleive that would not be a problem hence, its in the same location ast the OEM one anyway. Any insight from all of you should be directed to WAGNER!!! so that a better product is available for us!! Gracias to all for reading and participating

TurboEddie knows his stuff, so what am I neglecting to take into consideration? Is he worried about corrosion, restricted airflow, leaks, or am I incorrect in my assumptions above?...or some combination thereof? |
