Difference in jb4

So I recently bought a jb4 from a guy. Real good guy and seems to know what he's talkin about. He even installed it for me. He said he bought it last aug. aug 2012. He says its a jb4 stage 2. But I don't see anything other than stage 3 for the n54. I mess with it and drove it around. Definitely feel amazing gains. But how do I know that I didn't get ripped off for the jb+?

When he installed it did he remove the air box? If so he probably installed a JB+, if he removed the cover for the DME on the passenger side up by the firewall you have a JB4.

Yeah I can push down the 2 buttons and change maps. And we removed my oem intake when installing the charge pipe. But I saw him put in all the wires in the ecu. But he kept saying its a jb4 stage 2 and I just can't find anything on a stage 2 other than on the website it says stage 2 is the jb+

And your car is an N54? The N55's JB4 is called stage 2. If you can change maps with the steering wheel I wouldn't worry
