Replacing Power Steering Pump
Just took off the belly pan to prep the car for tomorrow morning. By looking at it quick quick, it look like a really tight fit. The pump isn't very big and only has 3 bolts but I can't see any space to take out of there.
Has anyone else did it before on their N54? Any tips & tricks? |

I just learned today that the bearing in mine was gone (rattling noize around 1100 rpm. Yours?) so I'm having it replaced within the next few weeks. Mine's a 320i (4 cyl), and the bloody pump costs around $900 Canadian Dollars at the dealers here in Norway...
Any tip before replacing it? |

I found a shop that can rebuild them. It cost me 120$ and it works like a charm now. No more noises or anything. So look into that... Shops that usually rebuild starters, alternators, steering racks etc... I'd rather pay 120$ to have an OEM one rebuild that paying 500$ for a jobber pump or 900$ for a new OEM one. |
