Oil Leak

Today, I decided to open up the hood and check the engine of my 2006 325i. I noticed a small amount of oil coming out of the Oil Filter Housing.. I wiped it off and it seemed to stop after the engine got warm. I did the oil change myself about 5k miles ago. The car is still under BMW warranty but since I did the oil change myself, will it be an issue? It's just the gasket below the Oil Filter Housing, right?

I have the same problem, but my car is no longer under warranty. Is there an oil additive for stop leak I can put in to make it stop? Don't want to pay for the new bolts/gasket/labor yet.

I did this repiar for my 325i about a year ago.I should have done a DIY on it, its not that hard. TIS calls out for the removal of the intake manifold but in fact you dont have to removoe it. If any one needs a walk through on this repair pm me.

I think this is a common issue with older 325i's, I think I have the same problem too (going through all the car's fluids, I noticed a lot of dirt build up from oil under neath the engine and traced it back to either the Head gasket or the oil filter housing.

@bmw6953
I want replace the gasket (#4?) of this housing before I assume that it's the head hasket. Could you point out from this picture if I need anything else? (I also noticed a coolant hose going to the filter housing, will I need to do a coolant flush if I replace this gasket aswell?

apparently this is a common issue, so check yours...

apparently this is a common issue because my local dealer said they have been doing more and more of these gaskets. They keep 50+ qty of them in stock at any one time for their techs.

Looks simple, 3 bolts, check yours...

If the bolts are aluminum you need to replace those too.

I'm paying a shop $260 to fix my wife's leaky e46 this week. For hers you have to get under the car and take off the alternator to get to it.
