Service time
Hi all,
My car is due a service now and just wondered what needed doing? My 325I is on 15k miles. So im guessing just an oil change, spark plugs, micro filter. Taking the car to Park lane, has anyone had any experiance with this dealer? Thanks Last edited by hobo mofo; 08-15-2012 at 07:47 AM.. |

I doubt spark plugs at 15k.
They are the third service on a 335i. Let the dealer read the key and tell you what needs done then phone around other BMW dealers to negotiate a good discount. |

Spark plugs not due till 3rd oil service, should be only oil and filter and micro filter around £240 mark full price at dealers. Oil alone at dealers is over £100 for 6.5 litres.

Ok cool, £100 for 6.5l...wow!
They said i needed the microfilter service which is £100 odd and another service for £250. But looking at my the service items on my dash, they all say 30k odd miles. Only oil is showing up 11k miles (but it has been a year since last changed). So as you say it probably is just oil/filter and micro filter. |

Thanks for the heads up, I will check out euro car parts for future parts.
I'm unsure if I need spark plugs or not. This will be its 3rd service but it's only on 15 k miles and the dash board reads spark plugs 40k. The car was serviced at 3k miles, 9k miles and now booked in for a service at 15k. |

Retail cost of oil change, brake fluid change and microfilter change is around £330 for parts and labour. Depending on the age of the car, a vehicle inspection maybe needed too at £70, but this is usually around 4 years or ~37,000 miles. If the car is 4 or more years old it qualifies for 4+ servicing, which is 10% off.
Supply you own oil, microfilter to cut costs. |

You are right of course.
It was the brake fluid service which cost that. The invoice was for £340 total Oil service Micro filter Brake Fluid Service Air Conditioning service (which was £70) So actually £180 I got prices from the Main Dealer comparison http://www.maindealerdiscount.com/content/3Series And asked them to match the cheapest - they did much to my surprise. |
