Progman 25.0.0 to Progman 27.2.1 observations

If your like me and had a march production car with the newer iDrive you don't have any reference to the older slower system. Sometimes the reviews are geared to the changes from v24 to v25 or above. I'll try to point out the changes from V25 to V27.2.1.

I had some trouble with the radio going blank and the dealer actually was able to reproduce it so I was upgraded to 27.2.1 the other day.

There are some chances and some observations I'll share.

- It’s faster in every regard, especially changing menus.
- MP3 CD’s will display the song list in a second or 2 not 5-8 seconds
- When you hit auto on the A/C head unit the iDrive will display the options for air flow for about 5 seconds.
- You will not lose your addressbook
- You will not lose your radio presets
- You will lose your 6 button presets
- For automatic owners the lunge in first gear from a start is reduced significantly
- When driving in “D” the car is a bit more responsive
- When driving in “DS” and you lift at close to redline the car will not upshift any longer, it will stay in the gear you were in. Previously the car would shift to the next gear if you got off the gas.
- The brake no longer holds for a second after you let it off
- If you had a little hiccup at idle every 10 -15 seconds like I did it’s gone

I do not notice any performance decrease as some people have reported.

I have a Feb build with the March production changes and a 3/07 build date so my car was build in the first couple days of March production. My previous version was 25.00.00 and I got changes to 27.2.1.

Hope that is useful, as with any review your experience may vary.

Does this mean they got rid of the brake-assist? I hope not as I like that feature in my March 07...

It may still work on hills, I have not noticed that yet, but on flat ground I no longer feel the brakes release a second after I hit the gas.
