NurburgRing Trip this Summer???

Would anyone be interested in a trip to the Nurburgring to take a lap or two this summer??? I haven't done a lot of research, yet, but I know I will end up going.

The Ring (NS) isn't a brake killer actually. The long distances inbetween bends are there to 'cool' the brakes + you(in general) don't drive/race there like on any other trackday because of the other tourists and the 'danger' of the Nordschleife. 3 laps in a row is a lot. But after each lap you return to the parking lot and you go through a gate (inserting a ticket) and you will start a lap all over again.

Normal trackdays on 'normal' tracks are sometimes 'brake killers' . If your brakes are good, they will cope with the NS.

That sounds very promising, as well as te 22nd. How do I sign up? Also, I want to do one mod before i go, so I have to decide between KW3's or the procede. Suspension might be a better choice, but I'm not sure. Watcha think?

Also, does anyone know if I should bring new brake pads and/or buy new tires before I go? I won't have more than 4000 miles on the car. thanks!

That's great! Ring trips are usually a lot of fun! The most important thing is to book your accomodation early as they get snapped up in no time. We tend to stay slightly further from the Ring in Bad Neuenahr (30km away). Mainly for the drive along the B257 to the Ring, what a fantastic piece of road!

Many of us are already booked into this hotel

Ringhotel Giffels Goldener Anker
Mittelstrasse 14
53474 Bad Neuenahr-Ahrweiler
Telefon: +49-2641-8040
Fax: +49-2641-804400

Also we will be taking the Eurotunnel, leaving Folkstone at 9.50am 13 July and returning from Calais 22.42 15 July. Book your tickets on www.eurotunnel.com

Here's a vid of our last trip, 165MPH down the autobahns! (The Ferrari driver is a complete nutter! The majority of us are much more docile .....lol)

And here's a vid of me in my M3 chased by my mate Doc Matt in his M3 vert.

Awesome Vids. The damaged Ferrari's made me a little sick...lol. I'm a little confused on the the dates. Your first post said 13-15 July. But the second said "22.42 17 July". ???

I'm so tempted to come along on this one... but I'm worried about abusing my car as I rely on it to get to work...

If I went I would have to have some real good insurance in place to cover all eventualities....

Can anyone recommend any good insurance companies that will cover me? any idea on cost?

Lastly does this have to be booked in advance or can you just turn up and pay? its only that I our baby is due August 15th (and we all know these things can come early)

Cheers
Lee

Morning Rochester.. you turn up buy a ticket.. (for as many laps as you want).. and go play.. no pre-booking is required.. as long as they are open.. and those times vary as the NS is booked out for manufactures to do their testing .. you can play..

My last trip was in my main work car.. on the way back from Frankfurt.. and to be honest.. you only go as fast as you want.. but my car has a hard life and to be honest its time on the ring it was not as heavly treated as on some of the back roads in the UK .. which I know better.. lol..

In fact in the wet on the ring.. I felt like I was staring in driving Miss Daisy.. with everyone piling past me.. lol.

There are insurance comapnies for cover but i think someone once told me I would be looking at £350ish for the day..

check out www. nurburgring . org they have all the information you could want..

If you're of a cautious nature, insurance might be worthwhile for your piece of
mind.

If you have an accident on the ring you pay for any damage to the barriers and also recovery from the track of your car. If you have an oil leak, for instance, that is bad enough that they need to shut the the track for an extended period, they have been known to charge for that too.

Having been round the ring as a passenger I can say that there is nothing to beat it. A total petrolhead nirvana.
