Are you talking about e90/92 m3 or the current gen m3/m4?

I chose my 335is over the previous gen M3 because of the torque and turbocharged n54. With a few simple bolt-ons you are faster than a stock e90/92 m3 and with the DCT of the 335is the transmission is also up to par.

The new m3/m4 is a different animal though, now it comes with the torque and turbocharged I6 and will give FBO n54's a tough time. Not to mention 335is' are going for mid 30's and m3/m4 is 30k more.

I've been about 180 mph in mine racing a caddy CTS-V. I thought I only made it to 165/170 but he said he had it checked on his gps and apparently we hit 180.

You went the route i'll be debating in 2 years when my 335is lease is up... Can you tell me a little bit about your thoughts on the M4 vs 335is?

You do not want my opinion of the E92 M3, it is quite cynical. I only give myself credit because I tried *REALLY* hard to like the M3, and the love just wasn't there. Four test drives couldn't convince me.

I actually ordered my 335is without driving one. I had a 335i before, and I was in love the torque and quirkiness of the engine. I got tired of my 2007 and wanted something a little new, so I placed an order for one of the last 335is'. I am not disappointed.

Im still on the fence about the front end of the new M4. Otherwise, it seems to be all the right ingredients for a pretty damn fun car. Im basically debating between keeping the 335is at lease end, ordering a new M4, or looking at a 2012 Carrera S!

I like your youtube videos by the way, I watched some of them before ordering my car.

We are one in the same. I had my 08 6spd got bored and picked up the 335is for the dct, m-tech package, power kit.... To me it was a complete 335 and the best of everything that car had to offer.

I've got 100miles and 24 hours on the m4. I test drove a 6mt f80 m3 (my dealers launch car) and immediately realized that dct was the right choice. It just didn't feel right and my 08 was 6MT as was every other car I downed apart from the 335is.

The M4 immediately let's you know that it's a different animal when it comes to base models and M cars. The sport button on the 335is makes the shifts faster but each of the 4 settings (throttle, steering, suspension, tranny) when cycled through their options changes the dynamics of its respective component in a very noticeable way. I have a feeling I'm going to be driving the car everyday with all of them on sport plus like I used to drive my 335is in M, Sport and DSC limited.

I can say that the motor and handling thus far (below 4k rpms) is so superb that it's just egging me on to let her rip to redline. The M-DCT is tuned to be more sporty than our 335is', not sure if it's the active sound but it sounds great on downshifts and up shift and where the old dct felt closer to an automatic this feels more like a race inspired manual transmission albeit a clutch pedal.

I can't wait to do my 1200 mile service and truly open her up but I'm enjoying the experience thus far.

What about the M2? This car should be the real successor to the M3s of yore. Not fat and bloated like the current F3x series but right in that sweet spot.

Plus, price & Gas-Guzzler Tax. And, the M4 making it undesirable.
It's a tie for me. I test drove both this past weekend with the M3 first and was blown away. I then hopped into the 335is thinking it was gonna be slower and BAM that torque gave me whiplash lol. I think I would be content with the power of the 335is. It's enough for me, plus I wouldn't make much use of the handling benefits of the M3 since I live in a congested city.

if you're into modding or want to start modding you have way more options with the N54 and non-M car and mods will be "cheaper" too.

M3 is a beautiful car and i wish everyday i just had a coupe on the side for track occasions.. but after driving/borrowing my friend's for 3 days.. and where i live, it really was not a practical decision to get the M3. BUT cant wait to get the new F80 M3 Wishing my lease was up already
Yeah I will definitely want to mod, maybe a cobb tune. I also live in a city so the low end power would be more practical.

Yeah I was talking about the e92 M3. I could get one with a little more mileage and about 10K more. Or get a 335is with less mileage for cheaper. Which bolt ons will make it faster than a M3? I was planning on a cobb tune. Don't wanna do too many mods and void the warranty.

+3 to everything said above. I was in the same boat and was 99%
ready to pull the trigger on an M3 - till I drove the 335is.
Overboost + DCT was a hands down winner for me too.

Still on the fence about the ///M4, though.
Glad I have time...C7, CR-F, Jag, 911.

VRSF/AR downpipes + AFE stage 2 intakes + cobb protune will make the car fun

Hi there fellas,

Anyone else FBO running a 50/50+ e85 mix w/ RB turbos? I'm getting serious clutch slippage in the longer gears with this setup and am wondering if anyone else with similar mods is experiencing this yet

I am running a Procede with the backend OFT flash... is this still likely an issue with the DME not seeing true tq values?

I considered the M3/M4, I test drove the M3 and was blown by its power. The car is track ready no doubt. I don't track though, so I could not justify where I could safely use all the M had to offer. Bottom line is the IS is plenty fast for public roads.

what tire to replace 19" Run Flats

can anyone recommend a tire to replace the factory 19" that came on the 335is? I live in So. Cal so I think an all weather may be what I need. Anyone tried the Michelin PS? Does it change the handling and ride quality and what is the best price and place to buy?

335is vs M4

Anyone with experience driving/owning both the 335is and the new M4. What are the similarities between the two cars? I know the new m4 should handle better but is the difference a big difference and do you think it is worth the difference in price to purchase a new M4.

I think you meant Michelin PSS (Pilot super Sport). And yes, that is exactly what I'd recommend - but upsize it to 235/265.

FYI, summer tires actually perform better in the rain than "all season" tires. And since you never see snow where you are, you have absolutely no reason to get an all season tire. If the PSS is in your budget, look no further.

For all season and price can't beat the Conti DWS. I run 245/35 and 275/30 on stock IS with no issues. Running the recommended 39 front and 46 rear pressure I don't notice any appreciable loss in handling.
