i got my sony vaio vgn c290 for $1600 without tax at a sony retailer.
didn't have any feedbacks or reviews and didn't know much about notebooks. the price i paid may be high but it is a working/portable notebook that has its looks too.

the specs for that i can remember are:
13.3"
vista business
centrino duo
160 sata
(says its white but looks silver to me)

I have this notebook in similar specs...but it's 13.3"

imo, 15.4 is too big, get the SZ series if you can...they are a bit more expensive though...

thanks, i used to have a 12 inch ultra portable laptop, and the screen was way too small for me...i do lots of multimedia surfing/editing, so i have to go with a 15 or 17 inch screen! and im really looking forward to a sony vaio, so im not really going to consider other multimedia laptops

12 is too small, 13.3 is good for me, 14.1 i'd settle for...i'm not going back to 15.4 or above...too bulky and negates the purpose of a lap top...supposed to be small and portable...
