Please help; injector coding issue 335xi

Hi,

I have been going at it a lot trying to code in a new injector with my laptop ( changed it due to cylinder 3 running very rich).
I have an 08 335xi E90 sedan with Dcan.

I can read codes, clear error codes... I can communicate with the car, and read injector values when engine is started. As soon as I try to write the new values to injector 3, I get error_ecu conditions_not_correct_or_request_sequence_error

I have tried with engine on and off also... I am running an image of Windows XP under Vmware... Connects fine to the car on com2.
I am using the EDIABAS and INPA files provided here in another thread.

Many thanks for any input.

You need to set it to comm1 latency 1. Also, use the inpaload program.

Put key in
Press start button foot off brake/clutch
Connect computer to obd port via cable
Open inpaload
Hit f9
Select engine
Double click the one with n54 in it
Hit f9 again
Hit shift+f4 (I believe)
Hit f3 for injector 3
Type in 5xx as 5x.x in the top box
Type in 2xx as 2.xx in the bottom box
Verify numbers changed
Hit f10 a few times to back out and close inpa
You're done.

Hope that helps.

Also, if you're running win7, you don't need the vm. I actually can't get any of the bmwtools to connect with the car through my xpmode vm.

Interesting, I have installed it natively in win7, but it is 64bit though... It does connect, but I don't get as far as I get with xp vm machine... as in I get errors as soon as I try to clear codes or anything like that. I can read codes though in win7 64 bit.

Let us know how u make it. I remember I kept getting error code for cylinder 3. Ended up being the injector. So I wanted to order one injector but getbmwparts. Com told me the new style injectors have to be order in pairs, i.e. If you change cyl3 injector you'd have to change 1,2 and 3. Maybe that could be your problem ? Did you order that injector brand new?

I haven't tried doing anything other than code the injectors with it, but I know it works for that. As long as you get the two dots to fill in black, you should be good. After you change the values, close it all out, disconnect, key off, and start all over to go in and see if the new values are indeed there. Mine were all three times I checked.

I did not have the cable to read the ECU when I had the problem (miss-fires when cold and warm) ; so I troubleshot the old fashion way... Change all plugs first, issue still there, then removed them in a week time, noticed number 3 was black and smelling gas ( running very rich ). Changed coil 3 with new one, same issue; had to be injector.

I actually bought an old injector second hand from ebay , same generation as my other ones, and now car is running 10 times better; but I still want to code in the right values....

Many thanks guys, I managed to code in that injector... engine works like a treat now .

It is a new car for me, and the problem was there from day one; just not noticeable enough when I bought it . It got worse and worse
Now I can look forward to some nice Jb4 software to give it some oomph

Cheers and thanks again!
