Is the owner sitting behind the steering wheel or in the passenger seat?

not my cup of tea, but its great to design your own bmw so i must admit that i really admire this guy. now i have another purpose in life, to get a new bmw with my personal taste. and when it happens i wont care if anybody doesnt like it as it will be my personal car, i mean if you have a car that suits your taste its all about having a car that wont need to please everybody just the special taste of the owner.

I like the interior of the car. I would've chosen a different color for the exterior though. Either way, still pretty cool that BMW went that custom.

exterior colour is meh, I wouldnt go for it. Interior wood on a sports car is a fail for. The only cars that suits wood IMO are luxury saloons or Bentleys etc. Anything that wears an M badge should not have wood. Just my 0.02

Consultant should be fired for suggesting that exterior colour. At least BMW should employ someone with taste, even if customers don't have any.

Well maybe a little bit of fools gold.
BMW often uses the names of race tracks for the special colors of their M cars. In this case "Ontario Gold" as in Ontario Motor Speedway in Ontario California.

Other include:
Le Mans blue
Estoril blue
Sepang bronze
Indianapolis red
Imola red
Interlagos blue
Phoenix yellow
Dakar yellow
Silverstone (blue/silver)
Monaco blue
and many others.

I was the passenger in the M3. It was driven by Christine Fleischer of BMW M who picked up me up at my hotel and drove me to the M Studio in Garching for that filming segment. I had been to the M studio the year before where the process did start.

The next day, the delivery of the M6 at the Welt, she picked us up in an Individual M5.

Remember, the point of all this is: to each his own. Make your own, not what anyone has to like.

No, the car was not $200K. I telephoned and made email contact before showing up in Sep 2008. They were great hosts. It can all be done, but it takes planning and persistence.

Loved the video.

cracked me up when they said "it all started with this great piece of wood" ...Thats what she said.
Actually true. That plus a couple of visits to the M Studio.

I feel bad for the other guys that probably had some real good ideas for individual and couldn't get it done.
They don't "choose two people a year". The only said that they get this sort of very special request a couple of times a year. There is not quota on this sort of thing.

Other Individual M cars in the past 6 months have included a Frozen Gray M5 for an M5Board.com member in Florida and an M5 with bright red and black interior (with red contrasting stitching) for an M5Board.com member in Saudi Arabia.

Not to mention this may be the only M6 ever made with this wood. I'm thinking appreciation in the long term rather then depreciation. Good investment and enjoy the hell out of that thing!
Exactly my thought! At first I was like "umm gold??" but after seeing the car at the Welt it made sense. After seeing the color during sunset it made even more sense.
