Can you take a loaner to Canada?

I need some work done and want to drop the car off before I go to Canada for the weekend. I already have the appt with a loaner set but will I get any issues taking it to Canada?

Anyone done this before?

thanks

i don't think you can. I recall there is a small writing say you can't drive out of province, at least here in Canada. I doubt you can drive it to another country lol

MY New Jersey dealer doesn't even allow service loaners to be taken to New York -- and a fair number of locals here commute into New York City.

I'd suggest asking your dealer.

Really thats weird I usually drive loaners all around. What happens if you have a family emergency and you have a loaner? You can't drive anywhere lol?

Loaner from Lexus I drove from NY to FL for 5 days and back. Racked up maybe 5200 miles and they didn't even bat a eye.

Agree with the others, ask the dealer. Probably they are all different.

My dealer has never asked me to sign anything for a loaner so I've never seen any fine print. They take a photocopy of my license and hand me the keys.

5200 miles on a loaner?? I would not feel right about it.

You and me both. OP is future cast member of Jersey Shore or something. Entitled, tanning bed every day, 17 years old and had two BMWs already. Not worth reading or replying except purely for entertainment purposes only.

Unsubscribing right now as a matter of fact. I'd appreciate it if people would stop bumping this too, but probably not going to happen.

It's easier to ask forgiveness than it is to get permission. I wouldn't even ask them about it.

I would be careful with that.... if anything were to happen, insurance may not be valid on the vehicle

All dealers probably work differently, but I have driven a loaner to the US before. My dealer even mentioned that the vehicle can be driven anywhere my insurance allows me to drive, which is anywhere in Canada or the USA.

You can always ask the dealer for a rental instead of loaners and let them you know you need to cross the border. They might be able to do that for you.

I do that every time I have my car serviced as I work in US and live in Canada. You shouldn't have any problems.

Simple, either ask or roll the dice.

In recent years, my dealer has gone from pointing in the general direction of parked cars and saying "take one of those" to requiring multiple signatures disclaiming everything, license, insurance and the obligatory "please fill back up any gas you use".

If I had to guess it's because of people like you!

some loaners have GPS built in. If they find out, they can fine you.

My dealer in Utah does not let me take the loaners out of state. I go to school in Idaho and I've taken it a few times there - simply because my personal insurance covers any car I'm driving. I would never risk anything if I don't know for sure the insurance situation.
