328 loaner experience
wow what a disappointment in bmw. The 328 with no packages is awful. Inside looks like some 1980's car. Seats are terrible. Steering wheel looks like its from an oldsmobile. I did not expect something like this from a bmw. The engine and the drive is nothing to write home about. I'm not knocking on 328 owner, just simply stating my experience with the car. Coming from fully equipped 335, bare bone 328 is an entirely different car. Now I see why many people buy japanese cars. Prior to this experience I held bmw to a higher standard.

any car in the 3 line-up stripped down has no more features than a car from the mid 90s. honestly....you get leatherette, no compass, basic radio, bad speakers, skinny hard steering wheel, basic temp controls...power windows, thats about it.
Stripped down M3s are no different. The 3 across the entire range has all the same standard equipment. The 3 series driving experience is not even close enough to cool enough to justify driving it stripped down like you would in a GT3 |

I'd rather drive an accord/g35 than spend money on a base 3 series. The interior was pretty dismal for the base 328 loaners I got. I guess to each his own, but it was surprisingly sad looking.

The base seats are not comfortable for me either. Other than that its a nice car, it could use more power but I am spoiled as sh*t when it comes to having power.
Its a good engine, eager to please, really the auto trans is good and responsive too. |

BMW 3 series interiors are very sensitive to options. Without the right options and colors the car looks terrible but with the right options it's very nice

The 328i loaners I've driven from my Dealership were decent...not something I'd buy, but there are lots of people who are ok with the relatively basic setup. I bet a lot of 328s are sold at a big discount after they've been in the loaner fleet for a year or two.

Yup I drove a stripper 328 sedan auto and it was awful even compared to my 6mt ZSP 328 coupe. Rollin' on 16s haha

It's the GM-sourced 6AT that ruins the 328 driving experience. Ignoring the seats and other little things (which are the exact same as a stripped 335i, by the way) the car itself is completely different with 6MT.

Don't get me started on the GM sourced auto tragic in the 328. I like the engine but hate that transmission. I wish they had 6mt 328 loaners, I bet it would be lots of fun. The non sport seats are pretty awful as well.

Another classy "my 335 is better than your 328 thread." I thougt the other one that is currently going would be enough to satisfy those needs but I guess not.
