I saw someone on the forum that uses the COBB accessPort that bought a GPS holder that clips to his vent. I cant find the thread and exactly which GPS holder he bought. I was wondering if anyone could suggest one that would be a good fit, or if anyone remembers the person that used this idea that would be great.

Hello, I just purchased your COBB AP today. I have a 2007 BMW 335i sedan and I just noticed this first post in your thread: When will there be support for XXX N54 equipped BMW's?
Here are the development priorities for us right now.
1. Continue to find ROMs for 2008-2011 N54 turbo engined cars and create maps for the 1, 3 and 5 series. This includes the xi and is. We are waiting for a ROM to be provided for the N54 equipped Z4 to see what efforts are required. The X6 is currently lowest on the priority list for N54 vehicle support.
2. Finish developing the serial based communications protocol to enable AccessPORT compatibility with 2007 model year 1, 3 and 5 series.
3. Stage2 maps for supported vehicles.
4. Finish development of AccessTUNER Pro and get this into the hands of professional tuners (end of 1Q11).
5. AccessTUNER Race end-user tuning software will be released after AccessTUNER Pro has stabilized.

Is there/will there be 2007 335i support?
Yes, the 2007 335i is now supported by the COBB Tuning AccessPORT. You must update your AccessPORT with the latest BETA firmware to add this functionality. All non-supported ROMs must be downloaded and sent to rom@cobbtuning.com so that we can add specific ROM support.

So being that I have a 2007 335i, Do I need to do something different as far as installing the maps to my car? Or is updating the AP different for my car? Is there more of a chance of my 07 having a problem with non supported ROMs and having to dump them and send them to COBB. Im hoping nothing will be different because I have any 07. thank you.

Pretty sure you don't have to do anything different, but I am sure others can chime in in this regard.

In terms of needing to send your ROM even if you have to do it they have 24 hours turn around so you will get your car tune and running in no time!

Don't panic COBB don't even officially support Australian cars and I am running it

Rode in a Cobb Stage 2+FMIC on stock throttle and it felt really good. I wasn't like holy shit or anything, but very good nonetheless as it was much smoother than any other tuned N54 I've been in. Bring on the race maps!

Thanks for getting an AP! That link is a little outdated as the 2007 models now have full AccessPORT support. You should be able to just plug it in and install without any issues. If we do need to add your ROM, simply follow these instructions on our website. And if you have any other questions, shoot us an email (tech@cobbtuning.com) or call! 866-922-3059

Same reason there isn't a public Stage 1+ yet. They haven't gotten around to it.

The linear maps are better anyways :P

Why would they make a Stage1+ when people can just use stage 2?

Because people can't use Stage 2 without the supporting mods (DPs).

Stage 1+ is for those who have upgraded to an aftermarket FMIC. I think the one stage that isn't really all that necessary is actually Stage 2. I always recommend FMIC before DP and I don't see why someone would not get an FMIC lol.

I have DP's and no FMIC lol

FMIC are stupidly expensive (as are DP's).

Not if you know where to look. You won't see me spending anywhere near 800 for a set of downpipes. There are also budget FMICs out there that are quite efficient.
