The lack of advancement shocks me....

The first BMW that I ordered new was a 2003 E39 525i. Actually, two were ordered - one for me and one for my mom. The online order tracking system hasn't changed one bit since then. I was shocked when it didn't change after ordering my 2006 E91 325xit; but, now with the 2008 E90 335i, still no changes. Still the same old format, same old background pic of an out of production Z3. The same old lag in updates. I have been using the toll-free order status number to get semi-realistic updates (body shop, paint shop, etc.). Today the car was released for transport and the online tracker still states the car is waiting for production. You would think that something would be changed here in the 5 year time-frame. If the automated phone tracking can be updated in a reasonable fashion, why can't the automated online system do the same? It's not a huge deal, but I find it more than pathetic.

It's because the cars dont cost enough for them to warrant spending the $ to update their online system

No financial incentive to update the system..We live in a capitalist society, comrade!

LOL the opposite is fantasy football updates to the BlackBerry. That's where there is a real incentive to put the R&D into technology.

I do understand the OP's comments though. In 2006 I had to listen to, "don't worry that the color is wrong, and that there isn't any sport or premium packages showing on the web. The website is really run out of someone's basement in SC, and the guy went on vacation for 2 wks. You'll probably see the correct color and options 5-6 wks. after you've picked up the vehicle, as the dude has to enter all this info into the system manually."
