Not that I haven't been trying... I've set three laptops up .. Win 7 machine to do the initial flash, but then with the paddles not working I had to install a virtual xp on that laptop. Then I couldn't figure out how to attach the physical USB port to the virtual machine. Then I dusted off my 10 year old closet xp laptop that doesn't work on battery and doesn't have wifi so in giving it one last shot! Keep getting the damn invalid vin error which I assume is just that it can't read my vin.

There was another thread that mentioned the Alpina flash removes the torque limiter which may increase transmission wear. I already understand that many mods may increase wear, affect warranty etc. For this flash specifically though, it sounds like D actually softens the shifts and may be equal or even easier on the AT. Is this true?
I will probably use D for much of my daily driving and the other modes for some fun to break up the day or on track days. Thanks! |

Yes in d mode it puts less strain on the transmission. Anyone apprehensive of doing this flash is selling yourself short of having a refined machine. The engine is awesome but the only thing that held it back from being perfect was the transmission. With this flash IMO it makes it work so well in conjunction with the output of the engines power. This flash is indeed a diamond in the ruff.

Feedback please.
I've only now started driving in S and M mode since the flash a couple of weeks ago. Has anyone experienced a jerk (not jerking) with up shifts in M? I don't exprience this all the time. Also, is M mode supposed to default to M2 when coasting to a stop? I actually really like D mode for daily driving. |

Still going strong, but just one question- is it normal, and more importantly healthy, for the car to go into fifth or sixth gear when not even at 40 mph?
On another note I can definitely attest to the increasing MPG. I just filled up today and it went up to 368 miles per gallon- I used to barely get 330! |

Thank you cn555ic, that's what I wanted to confirm and sounds good. For the large balance of driving in D with some S / M modes mixed in, it would be a great fit for me!
One more question please. I read in some of the earlier i.e. 2007 magazine articles on the 335i 6AT that the stock 6AT had rev-matched downshifts. One example: http://www.edmunds.com/bmw/3-series/...oad-test2.html Was that incorrect or a misprint? As far as I know (my 2011 335i 6AT included), none of the stock ATs had rev-matched downshifts but we can get this with the Alpina B3 flash. |

Hi Everyone, sorry to ask this, but my car is a 2012 335i with 6AT, but it's on a lease. Is there a software to flash "back to stock" available so that i can do that before i bring in for service? otherwise i worry about what the dealer would do to me for modding the car.
thanks! |

Observation: while stop and in granny mode "D" don't accelerate aggressive since it will jump to 6th gear to catch up to the pre determine 40mph mark ... Take care of the tranny and take off slow "grandma/grandpa" style...
In "S" & "M" mode drive it like you stole it. |

I goofed a few times in paddle mode- hoping I didn't do anything stupid to it, as it doesn't seem to be as "preventative" as stock settings, or maybe it's just in my head.
Yea that sudden jump to 6th freaks me out a bit, but then, drive a new F30 in "ECO" mode. |
