Hey guys

For those of u who use Non-RFT, do u carry a tyre mobility kit? I know BMW has one but has anyone use other one?

Considering switching to Non-RFT on my E90 but not sure what mobility kit to get.

Any feedback greatly appreciated!

I've got a slime kit (do a search) never used it but all the feedback I read said it was pretty good and a fraction of the cost of the BMW kit. It kinda fits in the space above the battery.

This is interesting, and i have something similar for my road bike.

I'd imagine you need to remove the tyre completely to jiggle the slime around?

me too, I have the slime kit ordered from Amazon US. I believe the actual slime cartridge is replaceable if you use it (i.e. no need to get another whole kit). However, I havent had to use it so far - 1 year on non-RFT.

How much was shipping from amazon?

As well as a slime kit (compressor / slime) I also got a jack (same as E46 jack IIRC) so that once pumped in, the slime can be distrubuted around the wheel by spinning the wheel when jacked up.

I've also got slime kit , comes with compressor that pumps slime into tyre.

Got it from repco was about $ 80

Was slightly Cheaper from amazon , but delivery was a killer

Yep...essentially the same jacking point as for E46 adjacent to each wheel. BMW obviously figured that some people would dice the RFTs

A friend of mine used the slim kit and then went to get his tyre repaired and was told by the car place that the slim had damaged his rim and they couldn't reuse it. The slim had turned into a glue and they couldn't get a seal on the tyre again. he had to pay to get the rim de-slimmed.

Hope that doesn't happen...

I've heard/read this happen on a number of occasions.

In addition, apparently it can damage the TPMS. I just went with the BMW Mobility Kit as it's designed to be used safely in conjunction with the TPMS.

the tpms in Australia is a sensor on the wheel bearing not a sensor in the wheel like the states. I suspect any "mobility" kit is designed for an emergency not prolonged use and would require a through clean.

Ahh, thanks for that. Thought it was the in-the-wheel type

Yeah, that's true, it really is designed just to get you to the closest service centre.

Has anyone got experience with this product?

It is called tire guardian. It even better as it repairs the tire before air leaks out rather so u never have to stop over to fix the puncture

Wonder were we can get it from, anyone know? I can find an american site http://www.tyreshieldusa.com/ but I dont think they send to AU.

i think they'd all be roughly the same at the end of the day. for piece of mind i've got a kit but if I ever get a flat (apart from at the track where i take a spare) i'm planning on calling road side assistance and let them fix it

On my previous two E90s I go the RFTs removed and used the BMW mobility kit. I only had to use it once when I was in the middle of nowhere in the middle of the night (spooky) It got me home safely, but the tyre was completely screwed after, but that was because the puncture was in the sidewall, not the tread.

I have just switched from rfts to tubeless tyres(michelin pp2s) Loving the benefits, i got a M Mobility kit from ebay & have kept that in the trunk just incase.

What did you end up getting?

Slime was 40 or 50 delivered iirc
