Big ups to you for paying for everything on your own, but I'm grateful for the fact that it wasn't necessary for me to do that, allowing me to focus more on school, and therefore on my future. My friends give me crap about it all the time, but I always ask them if they would've turned down the opportunity to call a Bimmer their car, and only the really stubborn ones say yes. I'm not about to be ashamed of the fact I didn't work for it (Although it was a reward for good grades), I'm just grateful to have the opportunity.

Well, at 95 it would be expected for you to be a bit rusty

And there's the proof that you put school on the back burner 'sense' = 'since'

34. Got my 325i in August. My step daughter just turned 13. Practicality tells me she gets the 325 when she gets her license and I get a new bimmer. Sensibility tells me to get her a $2500 corolla so she's not "that spoiled stuck up beatch" when she drives a BMW to school.

I choose sensibility...I can't do that to my kids.

I don't know if it is the general population these days as a whole, but BMW owners do not know how to put a sentence together. Additionally, the spelling on this forum is terrible.

You realize, this isn't even a representative sample. The younger kids are likely going to come in and post in a thread asking their age than the older guys.

Or teaches your kids that every generation has to start at the bottom of the totem pole because of pride instead of forward progress with every generation.

Not in an offensive way (to your child raising, just a general opinion about mine), but I'd rather see my kids reach farther than me in life. Not start where I started and work to the same position.

dang.... what does your parents do!? i am probably about twice the age for some of you guys and drives a CPO 335i.

Just be thankful to your parents fellas. if you do that there is nothing wrong with driving what you got. Enjoy, I just envy a lot of you, did not even have something close to a Bimmer when i was 17. it was more like FEET. (walk run)

I'm 17, got a 330i as my first car at 16. I know it might seem that I am "spoiled". My dad just saw it as a safety matter and got it for me.

Even though I have a 335i now, I still know that if I ever cross my dad or mom and slip in school that they can take it away in matters of seconds. I see it as more of a motivation to strive further. It makes it a goal to make sure I am on top of all my grades, so that I can keep it.

People can think what they want to, I don't really get hurt by the negative comments on how I am "too young", and I don't deserve it. It is their opinion.

Think of this as almost a meet and greet thread for the newbie here.
Bought my first BMW, '07 328i in December/'12. Really love the car and also the great forums so that I might become educated on the attributes and problems of these cars.
Actually, my purchase was an early birthday present to myself. Will be 82 on March 21/13.

and all you got was a 330i? i was expecting you'd get an M3 or at least a 335i at the very least!

Literally my exact situation. My car was basically a reward for a 4.0 in school. Just because you didn't pay for it, doesn't mean you didn'twork for it.

Oh trust me I tried. Insurance is bad enough for me on the 330i though. I think had I gone to the 335, it would've bumped my rate by an extra $100 per month, which my dad's smart enough to see is not necessary. But I'm happy, because as far as I can tell, the N52 is quite a bit more reliable than the N54

Yeah, people think that because you didn't purchase it, you don't deserve it at all. If you earned it you deserve it. No question about it.

330i is a great car, I found a e90 335i and with some persuading I got my dad to get it. The insurance is out the roof though, I give my dad roughly about $150 dollars every month to help out with he insurance.

I'm 19. 335is is my 2nd car (Infiniti G37S sedan was totaled by someone running a red light).

My parents aren't the biggest car fanatics, but they know that I am, and they believed I deserved the car (plus I paid for all the down payments myself... but I definitely know that without their help with college, and leaving there would be NO way that I could afford it). I couldn't pay monetarily, but I was a top student at my high school and am now on the Dean's list at one of the top 15 university in the world, so I was 'deserving'

I'm definitely lucky, but I try not to be an a**hole about it... especially since many who I grew up with have just as much, or much more.
