X-Drive error (UPDATE)
Ok got into the car this morning and about 1min into my drive I got the following error.
BTW car has 40k miles on it. AWD, DSC, ABS and EMERG EBV Stopped and scanned for codes and gave the following D36A D36B Car drives fine but already went ahead and booked an appointment at the dealer tomorrow. Does anyone know what the two error codes mean? Last edited by Delta0311; 11-29-2014 at 02:17 PM.. |

Hey Delta, I had the same codes recently. It was due to me not driving the car for several days, and a power drain somewhere in the car that was drawing away battery current. It went away after driving the car more often.

Ok so I got the damage report.
1. Front differential is leaking and needs to be replaced. How the fuck that's even possible at 40k miles IDK? 2. VGSG is shot, hence the errors.. This is my fault because I parked in a area that slightly flooded a few months back and some water got into the passenger side. I dried everything out but over time the VGSG corded. Insurance will cover this. 3. Oil housing gasket is slowly leaking. Again how is that possible on a car that just hit 40k miles, beats me? Total cost of repair, is not for the squeamish. I'm talking snuff film style rape here. BMW wants roughly $6k I'll have my friend do the differential and the gasket and I'll let them handle the VGSG. Yup German engineering at it's finest here.. The oil filter housing gasket is pretty normal. I guess they used shite gaskets in these cars |

And yes the gaskets are pure garbage but I think this is a first to have it go at 40k miles. |

Also found my front diff leaking a month ago, at just under 40k. Had to replace the front diff shaft seal (1 31-52-1-428-678)

That's what I figured it is. Highly doubt the whol diff went bad especially since the car drove fine and they inspected it when it got the vanos bolts replaced about four weeks ago. So it's safe the assum the leak is recent

It's 4 years from date of purchase. Car was bought in sept 2010. And I'm g2g BMW will cover the differential, insurance will cover the vgsg, and my friend will do the gasket.
