Idrive question

Is the idrive system that is in the 2007 the same as the 08, and is it the one that has one option at the top,bottom,left, and right.

can I add a question to this :

Can the idrive 07-08 read DVDs with a chip ? Or absolutly no way to read video except external dvd player ?
