Mercs eh!! ranting

I went and bought a Slk 250 Cdi, nice engine ,nice gearbox and great list of options. I think the added options are Airscarf, heated seats, xenon lights.

A 2 year old slk amg 250cdi , white with black leathers and probably £2k of options and guess what... Parking senors isn't standard equipment on a £35k car when the 1st owner bought it!. I'm begining to think maybe folding mirrors are option etc just like How Bmw charges for everything!!

i think i didn't do well, car was listed £22995, haggle to £22600 + a B service and 2 new tyres thrown in. Reason why i bought it was the car actually was listed quite fair, they are a merc specialist and the sales man was outstanding. He bothered for once whereas all other merc dealers who were selling overprice poor spec cars for 3-4k more.

Coding - so i have been searching options to code the car like roof open n close on the key, retrofit a camera but their forum doesn't have a guru like makkan

on the plus side , since it has a navigation prep, i can get a navigation unit added on for £280 on ebay which is quite nice.

so yes basically now i need to convince makkan to move over the mercs sideand learn the coding for me haha!!

p.s im changing proffesion to a hairdresser so yes its a perfect car for me and i will pull all the girls while u guys still visit the NSFW thread

Sounds like a nice car. Get some pics up. Also no need for parking sensors in a car that small!

I personally don't like the 651 engine in the Car range too rattly for me. As for coding most coding is online so you add an option code to the datacard in Germany then update the ecu. I'm not sure how they manage without a Mercedes star/xentry kit. However I do like the slk model really nice.

not heard any rattle on the car but guess the diesel noises covers all the noises. The Slk looks great in person but its a very heavy car at 1900kg whereas my 335i is 1600-1700kg.

Can you explain how the datacars thing work more? thanks

The 651 engine is just rattly in general, might have more sound proof on the engine bay. My bosses is a C class so it could be different!

If you sent me your chassis number I can tell you all options that car was built with? What engine and gearbox numbers are etc. But the datacard I can send off some option codes and update the ecu's. Don't really know many people that upgrade a Mercedes options. Not to say people don't do it though.

Mercs are pretty easy to code for the reversing camera.... it all depends if you have the correct nav, then you just go into the hidden menus to activate the rear camera input.

I retrofitted a reversing camera in my old mans E350.

Yoro....traitor!!!!

Why on earth most of you guys moving to merc platform...

I personally think that Merc is for old generation or perhaps for grown up.... And Audi is for those who cannot really afford Beamers / Mercs.

PS: I have driven few mercs and audis where my car gets body work done. It is just to compare how these cars feel compared to beamer. Never liked Mercs. Sat in A4 Avant. Liked the leather and comfort. Nav was rubbish and power wise no where near to 2 litre beamer.

Really ? that would be great, thanks in advance.

What options can we code to a merc? maybe roof opertation on the key instead of having to sit inside and turn the ignition on?

Thanks

Nothing wrong with Mercs Sam, although the new generation are getting firmer than BMWs which just doesn't sit right with me.

My F11 was far more comfy than my S212 E Class estate, who'd of thunk it!!?

I found the dealers terrible too, much like these back alley dealerships who are out to make a fast buck, we've bought 2 cars from the Brighton dealership and have had really poor experience both times, paid top money and got an E250 only to find out we had to pay £700 to replace front discs and pads at all 4 corners within a couple of months of buying it, surely they would have known that the brakes were on its last legs at the time of buying, instead they chose to cut corners, they hide behind "oh they were fine at the time of inspection" excuse. They also had mixed a front and rear wheel on each axle (245 & 265), beware anyone buying from lookers Mercedes, they are a delboy outfit.

The car is fab tho, very smooth and comfortable, a perfect motorway cruiser, interior is a nice place to be, prefer it to thr 5 series, comes with a lot of toys as standard and looks great, OH is well pleased with hers

And the Mercedes used car warranty is pathetic too.
So much stuff excluded.
More like the £50 warranties that back street garages give away and say you are covered for 12 months knowing nothing is actually covered.
