That's right, Gordon.

There are 5 main, simplified Thatcham categories:
More info available in the links to the thatcham.org website.

The info is from Thatcham's own webste, Matt.

Looking at the Full Category Listing, the Q class is classed separately, being a non-categorised tracking category & not part of the standard 5 categories for passenger cars, LCVs & HGVs.

Lot of info in the pdf about the categories, though!

Viv - what do you open PDF's with? The built-in "Preview" software or Adobe Reader?

Apologies for shooting off-topic here

Apple's built in Preview should do it, Gordon!

If you've got iWork, then you can use Pages to export PDFs!

I think its just the standard BMW alarm - beep beep beep, not BEEP BEEP BEEP

Well you do need to make sure the thread is on right before you tighten it up. Otherwise you can make a real mess of your nuts!

Carlos
No .. the e92 has one of those new 'silent' alarms.

You can only tell if it has activated by using specialised BMW equipment.

Indeed NFS.

Carloony, I hope you've been told about the BMW Alarm Recognition System.

Here's a shot of ARS headquarters, in Sevenoaks, Kent:

It simply lets the irritating alarm be remotely deactivated- you don't get told that the alarm has been activated in the first place- that's an extra £57.12 subscription, but you need to buy the BMW ARSphone so that they can ring you & tell you. Unsurprisingly, BMW charge £331 for that, without the SIM card.

The car comes with a free basic ARS subscription for the first year, but after that they could charge anything upto a hefty £373.91 for ongoing ARSing.

I really think you need to read your manual, Carlean-on-me, otherwise your dad may see some hefty payouts, without realising why.

All the best.

Viv
