Goodwood Breakfast Club - German Sports Cars
Did anyone else go this morning? It was a cold first thing I arrived at 7.30 and it was already busy and at 10.00 when I left it was absolutely rammed which is impressive for November. There may be a recession on but it did not feel like it this morning and of the 1000 odd cars I could only see 3 diesels!
Followed a Bright Orange Cayman S in with Sports Exhaust for the last few miles which sounded really good. A guy turned up in a Zonda with a puncture, he had tried a can of gloop on the way with no luck so he had to phone his wife to bring the spare - It must of spolied his day but he was in good spirits considering. Highlights for me. 2 Gulwing mercs the Zonda, stunning details both inside and out 2 RS5's - nice to see in the metal 2 Z8s - have not seen one of these for about 5 years. Really stunning car and looking better with age. The orange Cayman S with black wheels. Green 997 GT3 2 Scirocco R's, Blue and Black - really liked the Blue and a car that is growing on me. 4 BMW M3 CSL - These are maturing nicely 70's BMW 3.0 L CSL VW Carmen Gear's and the Porsche 356's Aston DBS & TVR Sagaris, sounded meaty just on tickover in the overflow carpark No pics today but I am sure Pistonheads will have loads if you want to look.

Sounds like fun.
I can remember when the local dealer had a Z8 in and you could sit in it. Didn't feel that rare then - but they do now. Interesting how their values have gone up too. Did you see any Karmann Ghias? |

I was there as well. Was a very nice morning out albeit an early start. Parked up in the paddock area flanked by 911's, and yes my 924 is lower than a 911 and as quick as the SC's either side . This was proved when a Carrera 2.7 RS replica hounded my back bumper exiting Goodwood. He tried to overtake on the first stretch of dual carriageway before the A27. Unfortunately he wasn't expecting me to floor it as well and I reached the next roundabout first . He hung back behind me the for next few roundabouts before heading in a different direction. For me the best bits are always seeing nice Carrera RSR's of which there were two, and a very clean Carrera ClubSport. Its the first time I've been to Goodwood circuit and I was really impressed. I hope the next time I'm there I can take the car on track!!
Some really nice BMW's of all ages, as well as Porsche. Here's some pics http://www.flickr.com/photos/1669310...7625206591255/ Last edited by Carrera RSR; 11-08-2010 at 06:24 AM.. |
