What do you mean able to program my alarm? Anytime anyone mentioned alarm, it is a hate and love topic. First, the alarm unit itself is expen$ive, second, you have to get it program onces you installed the unit, third, why could they not just allow us to fake the blinker on the rear view mirror? Sorry, did I open up a can of worms again
Pls verify for us what exactly is the new software going to do for us...thanks. |

New software is going to allow recent purchaser's of the alarm to actually get it activated, as the previous version of Progman had an error which prevented it.
I've verified it, Progman 23 is out. Matt |

I'm not sure that PROGMAN 23.0 is enough?!? I just got my iPod adapter in, and in doing so my car was taken to version 23.1 (according to the paperwork I have), but I was still told that the alarm could not go in (Still!!!) because the software for it was not ready. I was told some time in October for the version needed for later build E90s that need the alarm.
Maybe some future version is still needed? Can anyone clarify this? -Steve

The problem with Progman version 22 was that it would not recognize the alarm siren part number, so the alarm couldn't be activated after it was installed. Matt did a great write up on this a couple of months ago. Version 23 is supposed to correct this problem. Progman is the software used on the dealer's programming station, not necessarily the software being downloaded into the car electronics. The clown nose will not normally blink without an alarm installed, but there is a DIY on getting it to blink without the alarm. I went for the alarm myself. I know it won't stop the car from being hauled away on a flatbed, but at least I'll know if someone is trying to steal what's in my car.
Once again Matt, thanks for the update! P.S. This alarm activation wasn't a problem with Progman version 21. The problem surfaced in version 22, so if your car was programmed with a station running an earlier version of the software, the alarm could be activated. |

Dumb question, but I'll ask it anyway. How can I tell which version I'm running?

i think they only started mp3 playback from 9/05, but its easy enough to check, just pop one in, if it doesnt recognize it, it'll just spit it back out.

But, you should mention the mp3 retrofit to the service adviser. If you didn't, chances are that your car is not yet ready for mp3.

Does anyone know what fixes/updates are in this version? I don't think I can get my dealer to warranty it unless it pertains to something wrong with my car that the update would rectify. Infact my SA says he's never had a customer specifically request that it be done before.
