Question for California 335is owners
Anyone have experience passing California emissions with tuning mods? I smogged an e30 last year in preparation to sell it, and I passed the smog, but failed the visual inspection due to aftermarket headers. I had to pull the headers and install stock manifolds in order to pass. I'd like to mod my 2011 e92 335is, but am a little gun shy now. Considering JB4, aFe CARB certified intakes, and COBB catted downpipes. Anyone have experience passing California emissions with similar?

Black Lettering
Anyone know where I can buy a full set of black 335is lettering for trunk lid? Every supplier I've contacted carry a set of 335i letters, but I have not found anyone that carries the full set, including the "s."
Thanks! |

Most people seem to use Plastidip on the stock lettering. More info on Google and there should be a few threads here discussing the process.

tape around the badge and also use newspaper to cover the trunk and bumper/plate area and also put the can in warm water before application. shake vigorously for a minute and then apply in light coats - light but thorough.

JB4..Cobb...or Dinan
I would like to hear
1. what tune you have used on your 335is 2. how much did it cost 3. can it be removed from car if you have warranty issues and will BMW be able to detect that mods were made Also, I think tires and wheels and stance make the car.. 1. What wheels do you think would look the best on the 335is 2. What tires...I think the M. Pilot Sports 3. Spacers...and what size 4. Lower Car and what to use |

2. $479 3. Yes, it can be removed albeit it takes about 30 minutes to do so. Having said this, I wanted to backend flash but after speaking with Jon from BMS, I guess there is no benefit to flash if I am running PUMP (93 octane) gas. I thought we could flash our ISs to improve timings etc... |

335is community. I've owned two 335i's 2007 & 2010 (not 335is) with Steptronic A6 and in my opinion, my 335is DCT doesn't feel like it pulls as hard. Maybe I'm doing something wrong. I floor it, the revs go to 6,000 and yeah I'm accelerating, but it doesn't put me back in the seat like my other 335i's did. My question: Other than a tune, what's the secret for the best acceleration out of a DCT 335is? Sport button or not? M1 or D1 or S1? Traction Control DCT setting? Please throw out what you've found works best and I'll try it. Thanks!
I'm thinking it's got to be the difference in transmissions? P.S. A buddy with a 135i (N55) and DCT says he short shifts because his car has no power above 6,000 rpms.

How long have you had the is? Is this problem new or has it been there all along? I too came from a MT335i, and if your is doesn't pull noticeably harder something is drastically wrong. Boost leak?

Sport Mode (shifter pulled to the left) and Sport Button pressed is more "dynamic" of a driving experience. More immediate throttle response, higher shift RPMs etc. So you should see a difference even between Sport / Sport mode vs regular automatic way of driving.
Regarding the difference between the 335i, I do not know as I have not driven a 335i before. The specs say you should feel the difference though if we are comparing stock to stock. Now, I have downpipes, CAI, and JB4 and it does make "more of a difference" vs stock 335is. That 370hp (if not more) boost seems to be available at all times regardless how many seconds you need it |
