GROUP BUY: Poormans PE Exhaust Mod (Miami, FL)

So i was able to speak with the owner of Castellano's Muffler this weekend and explained to him the modification. He has agreed to do the work so if anyone is looking to get it done, let me know. Reason i put this is up is because almost every single exhaust shop has denied the job here in Miami. This is a good alternative to anyone looking to replciate the performance exhaust which requires opening the 2 outer chambers and welding in straight pipes.

Five hundred dollars seems really expensive for a simple cut and weld job. Might as well just go buy 335is mufflers at that price.

The mod is cutting open the out portions of the mufflers and cutting out the perforated pipe in the passenger side and the resonator canister on the driver side and welding in a solid metal pipe, and for those of you with an E90 (like myself) remove the resonator from the mid pipe and weld in a xpipe... As for cost I'm not sure, I traded my aftermarket rep 359m's (curbed and cracked) for the mod

No he's a welder, but I'm pretty sure mine was the last one he would ever do lol he didn't realize how much work went into it (because of the cramped work space inside the mufflers) so looking at the $500 it seems somewhat accurate, especially if you're getting an x pipe put in also

OK cool thx for the reply. I'd been contemplating trying to get someone to do this in orlando but not sure I'd want to pay that much, probably would buy a cobb first!

Yeah I was originally shooting for a jb4 as its cheaper and seems to offer a bit more performance for stock but probably not noticeable at all, and you cannot deny the easy of installation and the color screen of the cobb v3!.

It really is impossible to find anyone who is up for this mod, but its definitely worth it considering the amount you would be saving off an actual PE... here is a short video of how mine sounds...

Nice. Have you ever heard a PE in real life? How does it compare?

why is this a good idea / deal?

if you buy a pe or AA exhaust, you can keep your stock exhaust and eventually part out at some point. Not with this.
