Water Pump Replaced but still issues!
All,
My care overheated and went to limp mode. My mechanic said it was indeed the water pump and he replaced the pump and thermostat while in there. Drove it for a day and the temp warning came back on. So, I parked it and left it for two days over the weekend. Went to drive it to the shop and couldn't even get into the car. Electrically dead. Jumped it enough to get it into neutral and towed. Unscrewed the coolant cap and it bubbled out after two days even. Car is out of warrranty by two months and I'm about ready to trade it in and start over. Anyone have any thoughts or issues like this? |

The dealer out of goodwill may warranty the repairs. You should ask. Sounds like you need a new battery, especially if its the original.
Dont forget you need to code the battery to the vehicle, you cant just swap it like a normal car. |

I don't have a technical solution, but I wanna recommend talking to your SA to see if BMW will cover your just-out-of-warranty car for a "good will service." They typically do, granted you got a friendly dealer/SA.

My mechanic here has it and is going to check the codes. I bought it as a second owner from and independent, so don't really have a relationship with the dealership. It's tricky because the nearest dealerships are about an hr. each way. I hope its just a battery. I have my eyes on a new GS350 still anyways.

More Issues!!!!
Now,were seeing that the fuel pump code is coming up. Also, my battery holds a charge, but something is drawing from it when its off. He replaced the fuel pump. Mechanic came in today and the new pump is dead as it is pulling from the battery all night. He talked to BMW and they are bringing it down to the dealership after he spoke with them. Any thoughts anyone? I just want to get the car running so I can trade it in.

i had one coolant pump i replaced on an e70 be shorted internally from the get go and killed the battery. it would bleed the cooling system fine and would be fine for like 10 mins of driving-then it would freak out and go into limp mode/overheat. If the car sat overnight the battery would die-turned out the new coolant pump was defective.

Solution?
Well....here's where we are now. Turns out the water pump they just put in was defective and leaking and causing the battery/system to freak out. New water pump going in on Monday and should fix everything up. I say should. I still think I'm going to trade it in. Way too many issues with the 08 335i. Even my mechanic thinks I should and he makes money off me the more it gets fixed!

This is interesting. I just had my battery fail and now my water pump is out. I wish I knew if the battery is causing my pump to fail
