3-Stage intake manifold conversion for an LCI 325i Euro model
Hi everyone,
My car is a 2009 325i LCI Euro model with 3.0L engine (linked to realOEM with last 7 digits of VIN). I'm interested in the manifold conversion & my plan is: I will have the manifold installed first. Then get the ECU tuned. Should I be concerned with this conversion regarding my car is a euro model? Thanks for your time. Dung

Did you check if you have any kind of motor and a cable plugged in it at both sides of your actual intake manifold?

Please take the time to double check before ordering anything. Because according to realoem.com using your VIN, you already have it. Actuators are numbers 2 and 3 on the picture. Please verify that they physically are on the car.
So you only need to get the tune.

wow MaximusJ, so you're saying my car already has a 3-stage intake manifold?
If you're correct, you've saved me a thousand bucks right there. I have not checked the motor, & honestly, I wouldnt know what to look for. I can take it to the dealer & have it checked (labor is cheap here so no worries). So, ask if the engine has: 11617579114 actuator/adjuster unit 1 11617560538 actuator/adjuster unit 2 correct? I still need part number 11617559523 (330i intake manifold), correct? Do I need anything else? MaximusJ, I notice you're from Canada & you're done the conversion. Isn't your car a euro version? Please advice, Thanks for your time Dung

Hi
Look at the posted image above; print it if you want to be 100% sure. Look for items numbered 2 and 3 while opening your hood. You will find them just on the right of your engine cover. You should have a cord attached to both of them. And if you dont have them, you will have both cable attached, but unplugged to your single stage manifold; just waiting to be plugged. My car is Canadian Spec car. And I got a 06 too; so I didnt have the manifold.

Maximus,
I just got home from the dealer. I showed the mechanic the pictures & asked whether or not my engine is equipped with item numbered 2 & 3. The mechanic right away showed me the item numbered 2 & 3 in the engine bay. He said those are the actuators, DISA stuff. I asked about the cables, & he showed the 2 cables are plugged into the actuators. Then, I asked whether or not my manifold is a 3-stage intake manifold. He said it is. If it wasn't a 3-stage manifold, then the actuators wouldnt even be there. Please advice, Thanks Dung

Definitely, they barely answer to emails but they are easy going on the phone.
But last week Viral apologied to me because they were in a mess created by the bimmerfest east event; so sometime this week, they should catch up.

I see.
have you fixed all the culprit on your car regarding the conversion? Happy ending? I'm anxious, but at the same time a bit worried because not many people have done the conversion..

The issue was present on the car before the swap and tune. But now its amplified X10.

Go on realoem.com and punch your serial and follow the topic just to be sure to have it. You can do like the OP and post the link and I can assist you id'ing your manifold if needed.
As for mods, I would suggest doing the same as I did; order everything on the web and do that yourself. I learned a LOT while doing this on my car since my past cars I prefered to pay somebody else to do it. And then, there's a couple legit tunes out there. AA is one of them

Looks like you got it! Items 2 and 3 are the actuators.
Just double check physically and you're good to go. This site is pretty accurate, but you surely want to be 100% sure.

The engine diagram is the same for all engines. My 325 shows the same diagram except when you look at the parts list, items 2 and 3 are not shown even though the picture has them.

The tune is custom made based on your list of mods.
So I would say do that last if you dont want to have to pay for the $499 flash every mod.
