Car buying culture is also very different. The dealer's stock will be almost exclusively of used cars. Therefore when ordering a new car it is highly unlikely that the dealer will be able to find a car that is even close to your specification. It has therfore become the norm that you order the car to your specification and if they find one in stock then you just have a shorter wait. It's then complicated by the plate having a very visible age identifier that changes every six months (1st March & 1st September). Inevitably the residuals of a 31st August registration and a 1st Spetember one are different just because of the plate change. Therefore most poeple wait for the "new" plate (me included).

It will get better as his engine loosens up, and the big diesels give far better mpg on long runs - they're not so frugal on short runs, and take a while to warm up. I recently got an indicated 42mpg on a 250 mile trip, mostly cruising at motorway speeds.

I was expecting a pretty awful ride to be honest and everyone who has been in the car (having been out in the scoob) has commented what a smooth ride it gives. Driving through london today I did notice that any pothole will give a bit of thud through the car, but as far as I'm concerned, that's even more of a reason to avoid the bloody things (not always possible!).

The OBC indicates 39.7mpg after a 200 mile drive North this morning, very pleased with that. Wasn't driving like a 'Carlos' just took it steady 75-80 most of the way! I agree with what Sheps says about the ride.

I've got Dunlop SP Sport MAXX on my 19" - anyone know if this is supposed to be a good tyre or not?

They're supposed to be quite good, but a bit 'noisy'. Are they the RFT versions or normal? I think most people would recommend the Michelin PS2s, which incidentally are now available in RFT version as well. However, on 19" wheels, they only have a 265/30/19 size, not the standard 255/30/19 that is normal on our cars. Using the larger tire size gives an increased rolling circumference of 0.9%, which is tolerable IMO. |

I don't think you can fit RFTs on the BBS wheels anyway - they won't have the extra locating ridge for the RFTs. |

Cheers - I ddn't know that either. Are BBS the only manufacturer not able to run rft or is this the case with other manufacturers also?
