No.

And if you have the BMW Performance Exhaust, you don't have the golf tee mod, or if you do it's not really doing anything. The PE doesn't have the valve in it like the stock exhaust.

If you want quiet and more power, just go with a Tune

In Europe we have a valve on our PE! But with the golf tee Mod everything is fine

Well i find it ok like it is now but more noise... I don't know if i would like it... And my neighbours certainly don't

I'm also considering this DP and have a couple of questions.
Have you had any issues such as a rough idle or CEL?
How difficult was the install?
If you have a chance could you make a sound clip or video of the sound?
And most importantly, did you notice any performance gains?

Any other advice would be appreciated.

Thanks

I did it mainly because it is a necessity for stage II tune.

No rough idle or any other problems!

I only have a coldstart movie, but it is totally different live. Super sound!!!

Hey, so since the DP is catted, there is little or no stinky smell like the catless DP right?

Also can I run Map 2 with this DP with 91 gas?

Yep the catted DP will help eliminate the smell, and still allow you to run stage 2.

The gains with the catted will definitely not be as much as the catless but it will allow you to pass emissions with no check engine light and run a stage 2 map.

PM me guys if you have any questions! Or you can email me directly at kai@ardesign.info!

I was wondering what if I put the BMS catless DP, then go to a muffler shop and have them add a small Cat. Would that be able to eliminate the stinky smell?

That way I'll pay 400 for the DP and maybe another 200 for the cat? still cheaper than 1,000....

Any thoughts?

After a few thousand miles on the car I think the downpipes will blend into the stock exhaust.

I had it installed 3 weeks ago. I am VERY happy with it.

I had to change the downpipe in order to run Stage 2 (Evotech flash) but I did not want to go catless. I don't mind 10whp less , I just did not want to deal with smell and also did not want a very loud exhaust.

Catted downpipe was the only way to go for me and I am very happy I went with AR Design. I got what I expected.

I was planning to get the bmw performance exhaust but at the moment I am so happy with the current set up that I will keep it as is. I love the exhaust note at every RPM , half throttle or WOT - just the right tone I would love to hear. Cold start in the garage is simply amazing. It is actually very loud (for me) for the first 20 - 25 seconds but sounds great ! Golf Tee mod done by the way.

Regarding the smell, I did not notice any even sitting at traffic lights with the windows down. If I let the car idle for some time in the garage , enjoying the cold start :-) , then there is a bit of smell but still not much.

Even with the flash, there was still some turbo lag and the downpipe took care of it. Spool is MUCH quicker.

I was not there during the install, so I don't know how it went but the guys would have let me know if they had any trouble with the fitment. I believe it went very smooth

Thanx for that info. I have a few unanswered questions if you can help.

You ever experiance rough idles or any weird RPM increase or decrease?

Do you get any codes or lights on the dash?

Whats the EGT bung 1/8 in for? Do I need it?

Thanks!

Idle is no different than stock and there is no weird increase/decrease in RPM

I am not getting any codes or lights in the dash either, tune is taking care of it

I had the tune already prior to the downpipe install. And re-flash for stage 2 and downpipe install were done at the same time
