Saw my first Audi A5 today....

....and with apologies to the e92 owners, it looked stunning!

It may come 2nd when all things are considered, however on looks alone I have to say IMHO it leaves the e92 standing.

When I first saw it from the back I thought it was an aston martin wit an audi badge on it. Had those weird looking wheels which when I saw them online/in the press I thought how odd they looked but in the flesh they looked very good.

If I didn't need/want a 4 door car I'd be 'avin one I reckon.

Interesting .. I know someone with an S5 and it is a nice looking car, but I'm still not smitten with it.

One thing that does bug me is that like BMW they have taken out the middle seat at the back.

The one I saw today looked a lot like the below only a more kind of goldy/grey colour. I think photos don't do this car justice, you have to see one in person.

Haven't seen one in the flesh yet but looks lovely in the pictures I've seen. Would seriously consider the S5 as my next car

Yes I was tempted by the A5 when I was considering the E92 & priced the A5 options against what I wanted on the Beemer.(not much difference in price after the exercise)
However having driven BMW's for the last five years & having very little experience of Audi's,my heart still leant towards the BMW.
Time will tell after I get my new 335D M Sport sometime in Sept, yes the new shape has lost a lot of the aggresive stance of the E46 sport range, but I think the shape will grow on people as time goes on.
You only have to use the example of the 5 series, hated it when it first appeared, but in sport's clothes, I really like it now.

Seen the S5 on the road the other day, very nice and the LED driving lights coming towards you but after 5 mins of thought..... nah E92 for me all the way, its just 'cos there new,but it's still an Audi nice cars but never lusted after one!!! (incl R8 V8 Vantage for me) for me i love everything about the e92 especially in Sport trim its just right.Have a quick look around when in traffic or sat at lights they get the bods talking

and re E60 5 series, when they came out

LOAD of Bollox!!! i had one, and loved the look of it and now everyone thinks they look and they 'aint changed much

It was the LED front lights that caught my attention when I saw one coming towards me recently. I thought it looked rather heavy and the window line was a bit high.

It's blatently a copy of the 3 Series coupe. They want BMW business and will go out of their way to get it. Notice as soon as BMW displayed a 1-series soft top convertible, suddenly (surprise, surprise) Audi are preparing an A3 soft top convertible!

Apart from the TT and R8, is it just me or do Audi copy BMW model for model

1 Series/A3
3 Series/A4
3 Coupe/A5
5 Series/A6
7 Series/A8
X3/Audi model imminent
X5/Q7

I know which brand I'd rather own

Benz is pretty much the same way. I mean, what's so uniquely bmw about having cars in different segments. The more competition, the better the product. I'd rather have a 3 over an A4, but if I werent going to modify, i'd rather have an S5 over any 3er. I'd have an RS4 over any car bmw makes. The S6s pricing between the M5 and the 550i makes me pick it over anything other than an M5, and even then, i'd consider it. And i'd pick an A8 over any 7 offering. I also found the interior of the Q7 to be superb to the point where i'd easily pick it over a X5. In fact, i'm not sure the Q7 and the X5 are really in the same segment. The Q is a whole lot bigger.

my two cents

Seem to recall that quite a few were used as Police pursuit cars.

Yeah... seen an S5 and the 3.0 Tdi in the Audi showroom. These cars will sell on looks alone. The picture doesn't do it justice... and the interior is simply gorgeous in a way that BMW really needs learn from. It makes you feel "special" in the right way... On the down side, given the exterior dimensions (it looks big), the interior feels somewhat cramped even compared to an E92... and it's still far too nose heavy. I wonder when the RS5 is due?

Seen one last week, the front LED light brought my attention, very nice indeed.....

But nothing replaces BMW engine though!

Still the best engine manufacturer in the world

well after my experience with my 2 week old E92:

http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=80295

I think if the dealer and or BMW don't get things sorted i will be asking for my money back / my 530 back and going to pay a visit to Mr Audi dealer and placing an order.

When I first saw an A5 on the road heading towards me, I immediately thought... is that a TT, or is it an A4, then I realised it was an A4 coupe... I mean an A5.
