BMS intakes
Hi All,
I want to change stock airbox with BMS intakes with white oiled filters. Is it a good idea even though i live in AZ and its really hot in the summer time, will this still help even though the car will be breathing hot air? i have Cobb tune for now..Also is it going to get louder with these filters on? I seen videos with them on but in person i bet its a bit louder... Thanks |

I'm here in Phoenix and I have the bms dual cone intake. I also have an AMS fmic and I don't have any trouble at all. They are a little bit louder than stock but I like it

Intercooler will definitely be more advantageous.
You can always get a K&N Filter for the stock box. We are running a giveaway this month. |

It's 2 pieces of metal piping, with 2 conical filters attached. They require some work to install, one rests on the other, and still relies on the crappy OE flex tubing to hold them in place. They are cheap and do the job, not quite sure what is 'high quality' about them. |

Ok, what does replacing the turbo inlet benefit? Also which intakes include the turbo inlets that you recommend?

I just installed mine a few days ago. Not nearly as loud as I was expecting. My last car was a Mazdaspeed3 with a Cobb Short Ram Intake. Even under part throttle that had some pretty serious woosh to it. I'm sure a big part is the fact that the cabin is insulated quite a bit better than a little Mazda, but the only way to get some decent sound out of it is a good amount of throttle at low RPM. This isn't a knock on the BMS DCI as I don't think there's any other intake that's going to be any louder. This seems to be about as open a system as you're going to find.
Here's an old vid of my Mazda for comparison : |

A simple little trick for getting a good amount more noise from your intake, DVs and turbos is to remove the cowl. That opens up the sound a lot. There will be people after my post who warn you against doing so... Just avoid driving during a monsoon and wash your car intelligently and you won't have to worry about water hitting the turbos. |

Noob question, what are the benefits of going with the BMS white-oiled filters over the original BMS red ones? There has to be a $14 difference for a reason...
