As I'm restricted to what I buy,it would have to be the touring D3 for me!

Good review, fair play. I think I'd be tempted by the D3, a rare beast indeed. Anyone know if they are doing a coupe version ?

I like the alpine cars but I just don't think they are aggressive enough, I think it'd be better if they started with an M sport rather than the SE or luxury. I imagine it'd be the perfect car and that's why BMW only give them the base car to start with.

I'm utterly amazed the D3 kept up.

In other tests people have managed 0-100mph in 8.5secs in the M3 which is really fast.

The new 335d with x drive is 11.8secs which is very fast for just over 300bhp.

I know the D3 has another 40BHP, but that won't make that much difference.

The M3 should be comfortably beating it. It would be the one I'd have.

If the m3 used launch control would've been a different outcome.ive driven one of these and it's brutal.

It is an extremely lacklustre start. No revs and it bogs down.

In the timed run it was all over the place and obviously losing time.

You'd think they set out to show the D3 in a good light and the M3 not so.

Alpina's look like an old man BMW turned sport.

Why don't they actually change the image and make themselves a real force to be reckoned with and go AMG style full swoop on the BMW.

They kind of lack an identity and it shows in the look of their cars...there is no "aggressiveness."

I think that, that may be the whole point of Alpina-refined looks and aggressive on the move.BMW already has balls out aggressiveness in the M-that is the natural AMG rival and that may be how BMW likes it.I think that Alpina and M customer bases are traditionally, completely different-or certainly were.
As soon as Alpina infringes too much on M sales, they may reassess their relationship.

I've never been a fan of the alpinas, I don't like the wheels, the add on parts or the blue instruments, but it looks to have the M3 beaten as an owners car. 0-60 times are lovely, but that doesn't always mean it's a quick road car. So apart from looks the D3 seems to have the M3 beaten

Although thats a seriously quick diesel with the wheels that have been on alpianas for the last 10+ years and the body kits are nearly the same it looks outdated, id rather the noise and the presence the m3 will have and it looks alot better, people doubting the m3 need to go have a look at one in the flesh they look 100x better in the metal

M3 for me, saw a Yas Marina M3 at the dealership yesterday, looks RUDE, is it me or does the M3 look a lot more aggressive than the M4, mind u the M4 I saw was black, not the best colour to judge lines on...
