Megane 250 Cup

Anyone care to comment?

I test drove one out on Saturday, it was the RS250 with the CUP pack. They are certainly a step up from my R230. Looks wise I thought it was ok.

I remember Sheps brother bought one recently, not sure if that was RS250 though.

mate, I love these (i think they are one of the best looking 'nomal' cars out there at the moment.

Guy I work with had the cup, and i found it a bit too hard as a passenger. Of course driving it, may not feel as harsh

Think I would like to compare standard (but more expensive?) version which has a few more creature comforts..but is slightly softer

The one I drove was the more 'comfy' car (RS250) but with the cup pack as a fitted extra.

I've had two Lotus Elise's so the hard ride doesn't put me off, adds to the whole spirited drive.

I haven't driven one, but was impressed how quick they are on track, I wasn't much quicker in my R26.R, and I was on 888s.

I guess the basic chassis is a better platform.

Yep, i do like a firm ride, but maybe not as a passenger Think the comfy one+cup is the best option, although the base cup is v.good value

The 265 Trophy is the fastest fwd around the 'ring

Just read the top gear review on it actually, and they said the slight increase in power doesn't make that much difference...the Bridgestones stickier tyres help more.

What's the build quality like on these?
Do they still rattle and creak after a few miles on them with the rock hard suspension set up ?

"What's the build quality like on these?" - Very poor is a Renault

"Do they still rattle and creak after a few miles on them with the rock hard suspension set up?" - You don't need to go that far, a few hundred yards will do the trick!

But they are great fun

I would say quality is magnitudes better than BMW in my experience (by quality I mean fit for purpose). Mine gets tracked a fair number of times a year, nothing has gone wrong, and it doesn't break down every six months, unlike my BMW.
Ride quality on the R26.R isn't much worse than the BMW with the RFTs.

Nearly bought a brand new one instead of a used 335i. In the end memories of how my old Peug 106 fell apart piece by piece was just too haunting.....also the way Renaults depreciate makes even M3/M5 look like solid investment

I had a 106 Rallye 1.3 - totally unreliable, but loved it.
I don't think my Renault hasn't been hit too badly, but if they bring out a stripped out version of the current Megane prices will most likely take a tumble. When I was looking, the Clio 200s were holding their prices due to waiting list for new cars.
